April 2023:
Very open space restaurant. Visited this place 2 times and both experiences was great. My husband and I order many items and let me just say THE WINGS are great! THE POTATO SALAD is great and THE CHICKEN STEW with Spanish rice OMG amazing!!! We loved every bite of these foods. Had a misunderstanding about the Pico de Gallo. It’s Pineapple Pico. A few item descriptions were misleading but through communication everything was resolved.
Looking forward to visiting again!

January 2024:
I had high hopes for Grillbillies! Our first visit was in April 2023 and WE LOVED THIS PLACE!!! Unfortunately, the recent visit left much to be desired, and I feel compelled to share my experience.
The journey itself was not easy; I drove over 90 miles, south, out of my way, and endured a chilly 10-minute walk just to get to this place. Upon arrival, the first red flag appeared. The lady who took our order seemed more interested in my partner than in ensuring our experience was pleasant. Her intense gaze and forgetfulness left us feeling uncomfortable, to say the least.
The issues escalated when our food arrived. To start, I was handed a small baby fork while my husband received a real fork. The request for a proper fork was met with a dismissive laugh and an apologetic “oh, sorry.” I let it go.
Our order was equally disappointing. We ordered chicken stew with Spanish rice but were presented with a plate of rice, potatoes, and eight chunks of chicken. The potato salad, which we LOVED on a previous visit, was notably different. BRING BACK THE WHITE, THREW OUT THE YELLOW! Strangely, when the young lady brought out some of our food, she would do this switch-a-ru thing… very unsettling when we ordered the exact same items…maybe it’s just me ( but ik I’m not crazy). The chicken wings appeared nearly undercooked, not smoked. Shockingly, the eggrolls were covered in frying oil but still frozen. Even after sending it back, the second batch of eggrolls arrived visibly burnt.
When we brought these issues to the attention of the chef on duty, his initial response was very dismissive. Despite explaining that we had visited Grillbillies just a few months prior and noticed a significant decline in quality, he dismissed our concerns and even implied that we were dishonest about our previous meal. It wasn’t until we presented photos of our previous meal that the chef’s attitude shifted. Suddenly concerned, he offered to rectify the situation. However, by this point, the damage was done.
I find it regrettable to leave a negative review, but Grillbillies played with our expectations and seemed indifferent to the quality of their food. As a trucker, finding good food and telling our other trucker friends is SO FUN, unfortunately we won’t be returning nor recommending this place. I hope this review encourages a reevaluation of the experience at Grillbillies.
What a neat spot tucked into Clarksboro. Highly recommend trying! BYOB as well.
Food took a while to come out and was a little luke warm, but it didn’t matter it was so yummy!!! Ask for fresh corn bread!
11/10 couldn’t recommend enough
Update: food has become less consistent, reduced rating a bit.
Tostones and the cooked parts of the sandwich were excellent. Maybe just steer away from anything that could be undercooked.
