The added cheese and fish to the loaded chowder made it amazing. The rockfish in the tomato base soup was spectacular. We arrived close to closing time, Justin was gracious and welcoming to seat us. We chatted with him afterwards as well about food and life, a fantastic evening.

Stopped for lunch on our way through town. Good service but the food was fantastic. One of the best seafood cioppino’s i have ever had!

Was in Coos Bay visiting an aunt, and she suggested that we come here. Walked and got seated immediately. I was having a difficult time deciding and asked the waiter what my chances were getting fried prawns and fried oysters together. He told me there was a really good chance. I stated that was what I wanted. I was very happy with my meal and was glad that they made it happen. Loved sitting next to the side closest to the water. This was another little coastal town meal that I had on my trip from Alabama. If you blink, you will miss Griff’s, but I am glad that my aunt knew about it and we had the chance to eat there.

Amazing small restaurant right on the harbor. Great view and fantastic view. Got the fresh dungeness crab for my daughter to try for the first time and share with me.
Tots, fries, popcorn shrimp, and chicken tenders the rest of the family got were delicious also.
Elizabeth gave awesome service and made sure we had everything we needed and then some!
Highly recommend stopping here if you’re feeling a seafood fix!

Griffs just changed ownership. I was there before and after the change. It’s become one of my favorite Treasures. Arrr! The food is great (fish and chips are drool worthy) the clam chowder is so creamy and loaded with clams. Elizabeth, our waitress is so warm and friendly. I just love this place. I highly recommend sitting by the window if you get the chance.

Drove an hour for their fish and chips special I saw on Facebook. Large serving- 3 big pieces of fresh rockfish! I got 3 meals out of my order. I went back 2 weeks later for more! Took my leftover 2 pieces of fish and some fries to a friend and we had it for dinner.

First went to a fish place across the parking lot. They didn’t have what we wanted to order. Was out of it. Plus the music was WAY to loud. So decided to try Griff’s. Better choice. Although this is a cash place there is a fee on using a credit card. I had the Captain’s Platter and the wife had Halibut Nuggets. They both come with fries and Coleslaw. I had water to drink and the wife had Mt. Dew. The food filled us up.

We have visited Oregon for many years, and when in Winchester Bay, my wife really enjoyed the crab cocktail at Griff’s. I was always hesitant to join her at first, but she finally convinced me in 2022 and I was hooked – the best crab cocktail we have had on the coast (a year ago). Novelli’s in Florence was as good, but quite a bit more expensive and less crab. We ended up at Griff’s more times than I can remember because the cocktail was so good and reasonably priced. It felt like a hidden gem.

This year in 2023 I am terribly disappointed. The price was the same ($12), but instead of a cup filled to the brim with crab, the cup was only half full with 3-4 pieces of leg meat resting on a bed of fine pickings (see the photos). Just to be sure we were not catching Griff’s on a bad day, we went again, and today received the same minimalistic serving.

After consuming the leg pieces (a mouthful or two at best), the remainder was nothing but fine pickings, and for the first time I had to dump cocktail sauce into the cup (rather than dipping lump crab into the sauce) to make a sort of mush of sauce and crab pickings.

The crab place across the parking lot (that now has our business) sold us large whole crab, cooked and cleaned for only $8 more. My last crab was a tad over 2 pounds and I paid $20 for the crab. There was so much meat (all lump and virtually no pickings) that a single crab was almost too much to eat. In contrast, the Griff’s crab cocktail was barely enough for an appetizer.

It appears that the crab cocktail is created from a few pieces of lump crab with lots of fine pickings which causes me to wonder where all the rest of the crab went.
