First visit today for a birthday lunch with the husband and would definitely recommend and will be back very soon!

All of our serving staff were so lovely! The food was amazing! One of the best steaks and salads I’ve had in a restaurant. Presentation of the food was very good, and everything tasted amazing! So much flavour and seasoning, even the chefs made an effort to say hello when passing.
Thank you so much Victor for making my birthday lunch extra special! See you all very soon! X

Lovely lunch, great staff. Served by Robin who was very attentive and the margaritas made by Hassan were perfect. Brie bites and olives and focaccia nibbles to start, bone marrow and beef cooked in guiness pie, truffle mac and cheese side, rib eye steak and fries with parmasan and rocket side. Beautiful!!

Had a lovely meal here on Sunday and the service was great. I had to book a late table as had to be in Ely for a certain time and the staff were more than happy to wait and the food was top quality. I will definitely return! I loved the feel of the restaurant small and cosy ☺️

Absolutely fantastic! We came here on a Friday evening for my partners birthday. We had seen it as we walked around Ely before but this was our first time eating here. The vibe inside was lovely, not too many tables which meant you were looked after well. The food was next level, stunning starter’s, beautiful steaks and amazing sides! Green beans never tested so good! I cannot fault this place, even the cocktails were amazing! Will definitely be visiting again and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great food option in Ely.

We visited for breakfast this morning and unfortunately had quite a disappointing experience. The atmosphere itself was lovely, and we were happy to walk in without a reservation. We were told we’d need to be in and out within an hour, which wasn’t a problem for us at all. Due to reserved tables.

However, it took around 20 minutes before anyone came over to take our order, and then a further 45 minutes for the food to arrive — and it was only a simple breakfast with no modifications. By the time it came, the food was tepid and missing a couple of items. The server did come over to apologise and said we didn’t need to worry about the one-hour timeframe anymore (which felt a bit obvious given the delays), but by that point we were already over it.
It was clear the staff were frustrated with long kitchen wait times too, so we didn’t complain, but it definitely affected the experience. Such a shame, as we’re locals and had hoped it would be great — and plenty of people seem to love the place. Maybe we just caught them at a bad time, but sadly we won’t be rushing back. This was a visit on a Sunday around 11am.

We won’t be returning. After visiting previously (4 times) closer to when it opened, we were hoping the teething issues would be resolved but sadly not. Long wait times for food and then disappointing food once it arrives. The pictures attached highlight the poor cooking (should be medium/rare) and poor quality meat. A steak house who serve ‘t-bone’ steaks without a bone in the steak just don’t know what they’re doing – or are trying to pass off sub-standard meat at ridiculous prices. The chateaubriand is heavily over priced for the weight so be careful there. There are much better steak houses such as Kobe in Cambridge who price fairly. Staff offered replacement steak, but after a 35 minute wait for starters dinner was already getting late and my partner would have eaten alone. They then did offer a free pudding to try and make up for it but we were over the dinner at this point. As a restaurant, they seem to have cut costs and made odd decisions like serving all wine measures in one glass size – red or white. They now also serve all steaks on tiny slate boards, even if the steak hangs off the edge of the wooden board the slate sits in. What was a £165 dinner just left a poor taste in more ways than one. We enjoy dining out and would happily pay more, but not for what you get. You can pay £400 a head and still feel like you’ve had value for money but at £80 a head here we felt ripped off.

We visited today for bottomless breakfast and weren’t disappointed.
We ordered a full English breakfast and eggs royale with English breakfast tea from a very friendly member of staff. After a short while our plates of food arrived, all very well presented and were indeed extremely delicious. Even after eating these plates of food we managed to find room to order the French toast with fruit and the pancakes with fruit and maple syrup which were also very good.
We enjoyed our visit very much and will definitely visit again.
A great asset to Ely.

Thank you once again for such a delightful meal — we will definitely be coming back and recommending your restaurant to our friends and family!

This is my second visit to the Griddle Bar. I was hoping for a slicker experience since they had a manager and had also changed things up. The service is decent. Coffee arrived in good time and the hearty breakfast was tasty.

The issue is the length of time it takes to get the food to your table. We were offered a couple of coffees on the house, and though appreciated, it was exactly the same in March. Overall it was over two hours from our order to settling up.

I really want this place to be a success as it is unique in Ely. I believe that the kitchen is quite small and certainly creates a bottleneck.

That said, I am not sure we’ll make a third visit, which is a shame.
