GreyZ Bistro offers upscale Jamaican flavors in Crown Heights, although it’s on a less-than-ideal block. The space is cozy, not fancy and the chef is clearly talented with real potential. The food taste great and while I’d love to make this my regular neighborhood spot, the lack of poshness, ambience and peculiar price points make me reluctant, like a $75 omelet that doesn’t makes sense or feel acceptable for a spot like this, so close in proximity to the projects. The friendly but inexperienced staff had to ask the kitchen/chef multiple basic questions. I’ll stop in for happy hour, but for brunch or dinner, with so many great options in Brooklyn and NYC, I’ll look elsewhere for better value.

I would come back here with some friends in the summer. I like that the establishment is on the smaller side, so it is easier to chat with the people at your table. It’s local to the community, which is another bonus, being a Brooklyn native. I would not recommend large groups here, since there is one chef, so wait times could vary based on group sizes. I personally liked that the chef came out and introduced himself and welcomed feedback. It shows that he values his patrons’ opinions and wants to understand how others interpret taste. I had the Mongolian steak, and I was very pleased with the flavor profile and portion size! I look forward to future menu changes down the road 🙂

Guess what? I won a free tasting at Greyz Bistro! I was a backup winner, so there were three initial winners, but one person had to cancel, and I got their spot. I just went to the tasting yesterday, and it was a review of his new menu. What can I say it was the best food I’ve ever tasted, and I’m not joking! I felt like I was in a five-star Michelin restaurant. The arugula salad with goat cheese was the first course, followed by a duck breast with black cherries, oxtail ravioli, snapper with lavender beurre blanc which I devoured and I don’t even eat fish! After the snapper we had grilled wagyu with scallop potatoes and finished it off with wild berry panna cotta with rum cake crumble. AMAZING The food was so breathtaking and I can honestly say I had a food orgasm. The chef was so knowledgeable and attentive to all his dishes, talking about each course. Everything was A1. I think everyone should experience this restaurant at least once in their life. It was a different kind of feeling when I went there, eating exquisite food and just relaxing. It was phenomenal. I don’t know how many times I could’ve thanked him. He paid attention to every meal, making everything to order right there and bringing it out. I would definitely go back. I’m trying to figure out when the next time is because I live in New Jersey, and I made it my mission to come out here to Brooklyn. Even before I won the tasting, I was always trying to get to that restaurant because of all the online reviews, the food, and the brunches he has on the weekends made me want to go. I love Caribbean dishes, and we barely have any good ones out here in New Jersey, so I was satisfied all night. Oh, and the dessert!!! I don’t even know how to describe it, but it was just so delicious. It was a rum cake with blackberries and some kind of custard, layered with rum cake, custard, rum, cake, custard, and blackberries on top. I don’t eat rum cake, but I finished that dessert and really wanted to lick the inside of the cup. Everything was so phenomenal, and he truly deserves all the success he’s achieving. I’m wishing him all the best in his future restaurant ventures. Not many people are aware of this restaurant, and what he can do in the kitchen—like he does—is truly amazing, almost like he’s been blessed with God-gifted hands. Thank you so much for an experience I will never forget!

Tonight was our first time trying this place out. Ambiance was nice and cozy and the service was great! Now to the food….DELICIOUS! For appetizer we tried the veggie rolls as well as the jerk wings. Wings cooked to perfection with a nice jerk sauce. Veggie rolls were hot, fresh and very tasty. Served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. For the main entree we shared the veggie fried rice and added lobster to it. Rice came out piping hot and had lots of lobster in it. I mean chunk’s all throughout.

My fiancé have been here for dinner & brunch now and OMG the chef is talented beyond. The flavors are supreme and the presentation is thoughtful. This place is a hidden gem that deserves to be on all the lists.

This sunday we went for brunch got the pound cake waffles and the general tso’s chicken and waffles. Both were so good!

If youre looking for a cozy neighborhood spot with great tasting food, this is your place. It is clear there is so much love and attention to growing this business. They have our support!

Came to Brooklyn for the weekend and stumbled upon this restaurant—so glad I did. My friend and I were warmly greeted by the chef and owner, who was both welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. The food and drinks were truly outstanding, some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Overall, it was a genuinely great experience, and I think anyone who visits will feel the same. The space is intimate, making it perfect for a date or a relaxed, memorable night out. I would go again!

I’ve been to Greyz Bistro on multiple occasions. The food is freshly made and delicious, the service is friendly and respectful, and Chef Cheese is kind, personable and open to criticism and/or suggestions. The atmosphere is a vibe with old school reggae music jamming.

We’ve tried several dishes and it never disappoints:
Lobster egg roll, vegetable spring rolls, oxtail Mac and cheese, lobster fried rice, oxtail fried rice, oxtail stuffed chicken, fish sandwich with fries, pork bao buns, lo mein, and Guinness stout crème brûlée.

Anyone looking for amazing food, service and great ambiance should definitely come through.

Five stars all around for the amazing drinks & food, quick service, & cozy ambiance. The ginger lemonade (mocktail) was so delicious that we got another one with rum. Chef Cheese was warm, humble, and welcoming. He even surprised us with a complimentary dessert outside of the current menu. We enjoyed our meal so much that we ordered a grilled Jerk Chicken Sandwich to take home. Overall we had an amazing experience from start to finish. Happy 1-year anniversary to Greyz Bistro! Wishing you many more successful years ahead.

Best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time! A weeknight impromptu date led us to this AMAZING restaurant! With the IG food critics its hard to find a great culinary experience thats not camaflouged in unnecessary sauce, flower walls, and smoking drinks. Walking in it was bright and calm, warm, and welcoming. Music yes, but I could still a conversation at the table and speak with the chef about the menu
Here you can taste the food. We ordered two mixed drinks, Mango Lemon Drop and Greyz Punch – their version of Rum Punch. Both were a hit! There was a perfect match and mix of alcohol and juice mix. Not too heavy on either.
The menu was not overwhelming! The small plates tied into the appetizers and the appetizers tied into the main courses. Clearly a cultivated menu, staying in theme with the fusion style nature of the restaurant.
We ordered general tso wings and shrimp scampi! Both were great! The wings were glazed and not drenched with the right amount of spice and a hint of heat. But that scampi from beginning to end was delectable. The pasta was fresh! The shrimp were colossal and NOT overcooked! Tomatoes perfectly blistered! With the perfect cream sauce consistency! It was great.
Finally, the KIMCHI KOREAN BURGER! talk about doing something your way and it being a HIT! This burger was cooked to the proper temp! I thiught the Kimchi and coleslaw would be overbearing…NOPE! It was the perfect pairing. I didnt need to add one thing to the sandwich! Everything was 100/10
This carribean asian fusion restaurant reignites a food lovers dream of being able to TASTE the food. No smoke and mirrors. Lots of good vibes and passion mixed in each dish! GREYZ was an unexpected delight and we can’t wait to go back.
