The salmon was dry with a consistency similar to sawdust with an overwhelming fishy taste to it (no maple taste whatsoever lol).
The prime rib came out well done instead of medium rare with no crust whatsoever. The taste of said prime rib was not quite right. I have no words to describe it other than funky. It was grey/brown and tough. They somehow took one of the best cuts of meat, in my opinion, and made it one of the worst meals I’ve had.
The fries were undercooked. The soup had little flavor. The salad was warm. The Coca-Cola was pretty much water.
This is the only time I’ve ever returned food. The salmon made my wife, who loves seafood, throw up almost immediately.
When I told the bartender about the food, she sent the manager to us immediately. I told her about what was going on and she was giving me a hard time about the food, saying that she just had the salmon and it was “fine.” Even if it was fine, which it WAS NOT, I am not paying $22 for a piece of salmon the size of a bar of soap that’s “fine.”
After the argument, the manager said she was going to take our food back and get our original waitress. It took over a half hour for us to get the bill for our drinks.
We left without receiving an apology of any kind. My only wish is that I could bill them for the hour and a half of our time that they wasted. Again, this is the ONLY meal I’ve ever sent back in my life. I will happily tell anyone I know about our experience and our desire to avoid this place from here on out.
The fact that they made us pay for our 2 drinks after the experience we had is appalling to me. They were made horribly.
To all reading this review, have fun if you go there. Maybe your experience will be better, however, I recommend going down the road the the next place.
The door was even barred when we arrived, despite it being over an hour since they’ve opened.
The potatoes were clearly microwaved, all of the food lacked seasoning. The garlic bread was very obviously texas toast from the local grocery store with nothing done to it besides being cooked unevenly. The maple salmon was extremely dry and fishy.
Fortunately we were able to get our food returned without having to pay after some defensive comments from the manager. Another positive was that a nearby restaurant, “champs,” had very good food and took about a 3rd of the time from entrance to exit.
*Last year, the Valentine’s special was actually special. Romantic atmosphere, awesome food but the abundance of waitstaff could not figure out what was going on & wait times were long.
***This year, not romantic & only one waitress who had to seat people, bartend, deliver food, apologize for subpar food, bus tables, and take payment. SHE WAS A ROCKSTAR. Salmon was scalding hot (obviously microwaved) & very fishy, mashed potatoes were room temp, microwaved frozen veggies from a bag with no attempt at seasoning, regular pre frozen baked texas toast. Everything could have been bought from the freezer section at the Piggly wiggly & microwaved.
Paid $66 for a few bites…at least the beer was cold.
The bar, drinks were flat. Ordered and waited 30 minutes and then was told the walleye was not thawed yet …. Needless to say we left.
