A friend and I went and ordered separately. (This info is important.)

I ordered the Monroe breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! It was fresh and had a good amount of every ingredient. I ordered the blueberry scone and it was equally as good. I would get those two items again and recommend those to people.

I was deceived by the menu and disappointed with my drink. On their online menu under cold brew they list “James Brown – Brown sugar, cinnamon, milk, espresso”

AND on the same menu under “ON TAP” they list “Nitro James Brown”

I ordered the NITRO James Brown thinking it’s like any other nitro. Wrong.

My friend and I sat outside. We each had our own table number. They bring out one sandwich even though we ordered within minutes of each other. I start eating even though we came to eat together because I don’t want cold food.

Then they bring out a drink and set it on the table without saying anything. I do not know whose drink this is. They did not take my number so I’m assuming I’m waiting for my drink. My friend ordered the Oatchata so it could be hers, and I don’t believe it’s mine because I ordered the NITRO and this drink clearly has dairy and cinnamon.

A couple minutes go by and I go up and I ask them what drink was just dropped off at the table. If it’s my drink I want to know because I want my drink with my food. They said the James Brown. When I asked them if it was the nitro, they said yes. Then the woman who had taken or order just hands me my friends sandwich and when I told her I already got mine and that’s hers she just pushes it towards me more. Sure I’ll take it.

Then we wait longer for her drink.

The service was so bad that I would not go to this place again. The woman who took my order was extremely busy, when she got to the register she asked what I would like, as soon as I started talking she turned her head and started helping the person to her left.

Food is good. Blueberry scone is good. Not that good that I would deal with that customer service.

Probably better off ordering online if your hard set on going.

I rush to get here in time before the breakfast sandwiches sell out, they’re so delicious! Everything we’ve tried here is, the portions are big and you can taste the quality.

There’s vegan & vegetarian options as well, non-coffee drinks, and an array of sweets to choose from.

There’s indoor & outdoor seating (outdoor is dog friendly)

Wanted some coffee before a hike nearby and this place popped up – had to try it .. it’s a cool spot . Open and great vibe . Lots of people hanging out and enjoying themselves.. we got two coffees and an order of chilaquiles .. the food was great ! The coffee was too – beware it’s on the sweeter side – we ordered a honeycomb and James brown .. excellent spot though !

My go-to local café in Monrovia. Everything here is delicious — from the food to the espresso drinks to the matcha, hot or iced. The staff is super friendly, and the service is always great. It’s definitely a local favorite; you can tell by how many people know each other. What really stands out are the syrups — they taste homemade and make every drink pop. You honestly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Went here with my sister who is vegan and we were both super happy with the service and food. Great to have multiple vegan options!! Deducted one star for atmosphere because it feels very bro-y which is not my (or my sister’s) vibe.

The place is bustling with lovely people. It’s nice to be able to bring your dog inside (as long as it’s well trained of course) I ordered the bacon and egg and cheese and the heart burn afterward was worth it. Delicious. Also tried the Matchata (matcha + horchata) pretty great as well! They have vegan options too. It is a little on the pricey side, if you come here for a date expect to spend about $50

The cappuccino was great but the huevos ranchero dish that I ordered had a lot of flaw in them. The vegetable was not grilled and didn’t rest so I end up with a lot of water on my plate that mixed with the egg. There is also a lack of seasoning, and the use of dry herbs instead of fresh herbs in the dish. It was served with a flour tortilla, I wish that it was corn and fried so you can get some crunch texture out of the dish. a slice a lime will also add some acidity which is lacking as well. I really like the environment and the service but I would only order the coffee here.

Grey and Cash is our favorite breakfast and lunch spot in Monrovia. We had moved to Monrovia in the summer and were looking for a place to get coffee/tea and to study, found this place and come back once a week. My fiancé loves their cold brew and Cortado. The staff is super friendly and kind and the food is great ! I love their Lavender Espresso and Bhakti Chai. We were a little nervous about trying their chilaquiles as we had not had any at restaurant that compares to the ones I make at home. Their red and green are both delicious and give me reprieve from making them for my fiancé every Saturday. The staff is always very friendly and the environment is mellow and perfect for studying. We’ve tried about a dozen things on their menu and have never left upset. There have been times in which try a different restaurant in old town, but have waited over 45 minutes and were never seated, so we just walk over to Grey and Cash and are never disappointed.

This avocado toast has stronger taste than others I had tried. Toast is actually a little salty. Pickled radish is strong (which is a good thing for me) and it has lots of cherry tomatoes. Avocado is flavorful! It’s delicious!!! Taste better than yesterday’s pretty but light avocado toast.
Service is good.
Mural is cute! I love it!
