Just visited Green Papaya — a cosy spot serving incredible dishes packed with flavour.
Beef Phở — Slow-simmered for 24 hours, rich, aromatic and full of depth. The beef? Tender, juicy, perfection.
• Pork & Seafood Spring Roll — Crispy on the outside, packed with flavour inside — a must-order.
• BBQ Pork Belly Vermicelli Noodles — Crispy edges with a juicy centre, paired with nuoc cham dressing, fresh herbs, lettuce, cucumber & carrots — chef’s kiss.
• Salt & Chilli Soft Shell Crab — Light, crispy, flavourful — addictive
Salt & Chilli Chicken Wings — The perfect seasoned starter.
• Green Papaya Salad — Light, citrusy, refreshing and fragrant with kaffir lime and a touch of honey.
• ☕ Vietnamese Coffee — Sweet, strong, and the perfect way to end the meal.
Super friendly staff, generous portions, great prices.

My friend and I went to this Viennese restaurant in a rainy evening and we really like this place. Good food for example, Pho, especially suitable for friends after work. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. It’s also located not far from overground station. Overall I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to experience authentic Vietnamese food.

We visited this Vietnamese restaurant today with the family and were delighted to see they’ve added barbecue to the menu. The food was excellent—our kids especially enjoyed the beef pho, salt and pepper squid, and the barbecue dishes. The service was outstanding, with staff always attentive and quick to clear the table. It was a truly pleasant dining experience, and we highly recommend everyone give it a try!

Really good value for money, and the portions are bigger than expected. The pho was the standout for me, the broth tasted clean and natural, without that heavy, salty vibe some places have.
I also enjoyed their salt & chilli BBQ dishes. The aubergine and soft-shell crab were full of flavour and great for sharing.
The team there were lovely and made the meal even better.

A real hidden gem in East London! Green Papaya instantly transports you to a cosy Hanoi eatery — warm lights, wooden tables, and the gentle scent of lemongrass in the air. The grilled pork and seafood vermicelli is my favourite — smoky, fresh, and perfectly balanced with fish sauce and herbs. The soft-shell crab is crispy perfection, and the pho tastes clean, comforting, and deeply satisfying. Everything feels homemade and full of heart. Friendly staff, fair prices, and truly delicious food — easily one of my go-to spots in Hackney!

You really can’t go wrong with Vietnamese on Mare St! Went to Green Papaya by chance. Their pho came in a huge bowl and the broth was clean and flavourful, and it tasted properly authentic too.
I also tried a few of their BBQ dishes and they were packed with flavour
Lots of variety on the menu as well, way more than I expected. Such a lovely little find and I’d definitely go back ✨
