Greek Souvlaki was founded in 1972 by Lee and Mary Paulos. They were the first to bring yeeros (gyros) to Utah. It was a family visit back to Greece that sparked the idea of a restaurant. Lee’s brother, Tasos Petropoulos, owned a small restaurant serving yeeros in Pireaus and Lee noticed that the tourists loved them. At first, Greek Souvlaki only sold three items: yeeros (gyro), souvlaki, and beefteki. The red sauce was the specialty sauce, in fact white sauce was added many years later! With Mary’s home made recipes and Lee’s inventive and creative mind, they added many other items to their menu. I’m glad this place still here !! I love this place gyro !! Last time I came back SLC was 13 yrs ago and I came this place 3 times by walking 1 hours lol . This much I couldn’t forget . I came this time I took gyro and Philly gyro .

I got the Philly gyro and loved it! I’d definitely come back to try other things they have on the menu. Kinda a hole in the wall but awesome food and service was great. The dining area could’ve been a little bit cleaner, but it’s to be expected at a place like this – all part of the experience!

Classic Greek menue, with loads of variety. Fresh brewed Ice tea, and classic mellow 70s music always on in the Background. Small but comfortable. Highly recommended.

Nice greek food place, the amount of food that we got for what we paid was fair, not cheap nor expensive and the people there were way nice to us. the reason why I gave this place 4 starts instead of five is because of the rice. it was kind of salty and way too oily, besides that food was on point. I would go there again I must say pita and fries are now defined on my top 10

The food is usually really good. The prices are bearable. There’s usually a lot of seating I like to order the chicken souvlaki with fries, or the salad with chicken they have a really good spaghetti and I like their fries sauce has a little bit of spice to it depending on who’s working there sometimes the service isn’t always very kind. The food is always the same and that’s why I return , I drive all the way from Layton to enjoy this Greek food.
