Oh my! Of all the special places in traverse city, this one may be the special-ist. It’s like a best kept secret but here’s to letting that out! Amazing baked treats and a wide variety of fresh, delicious concoctions in packages and in the case, including hot chocolate, teas and coffees served in store.

The absolute best! Last year I found an assortment of tiramisu from around town for my husband’s birthday in order to find his favorite. Great Lakes Chocolates was by far the winner for him!
So this year I made a request to order a whole tiramisu for his birthday, but had somehow missed that they only make these regularly on Christmas. However, the staff that I spoke with was so accommodating, helpful, and kind and were willing to make one for him anyways! The tiramisu cake was beautiful and so so delicious!

Great Lakes chocolate is a fantastic destination for anyone in the Traverse City area looking for some delicious desserts. Their selection of truffles, bonbons, and chocolate bars is truly impressive, and the fact that they source their beans from around the world using direct trade processes is a testament to their commitment to quality and sustainability.
One of their standout offerings is their signature dessert, Life by Chocolate (one of my dad’s favorites).
The owners, Shana and Dave, are also incredibly friendly and passionate about what they do. It’s clear that they take great care in every step of the process, from sourcing the beans to crafting the final product.

I popped in today to grab some treats as Christmas presents. As soon as I saw the display case I knew I was in trouble. Everything was so well crafted. I was able to pick out what truffles I wanted and gift boxes. The employee that helped me was kind, patient and gave great recommendations. So happy I stopped in today!

My husband and I fell in love with this place on our honeymoon and visited twice while in town to even buy chocolate to take home. The chocolates are creative and delicious. I highly recommend this place! The latte I ordered was yummy so I bought a bag of their coffee beans too. I can’t wait to visit again.

Wow what a great place to stop an shop for desserts. I ordered cookies for my son’s wedding and they were fantastic. I had so many compliments on them. They were so helpful and were able to get a large last minute order with ease. I will make this a must see stop when I’m up north again. I can’t recommend them enough.

I ordered a bunch of things for Christmas for myself (excuse the dorm mess) and everything was great. The best thing about trying everything I had is learning that I really love scones and it’s probably my favorite pastry I’ve had ever.
I wish I ordered more scones. Their cheesecake is of course why I came here and it’s great. For anyone that wants a slide or cheesecake (OH YEAH CARROT TAKE TOO), check out this place.
Don’t do what I did and order 12 slices for yourself.

My nieces and I went here this summer a few times. We were searching for chocolate covered espresso beans… and found them. And of course we alway have to pick out some of the prettiest chocolates ever. And then found out my uncle was dying, with only weeks to live so we came back to get a variety of cheese cakes because that was his favorite dessert. Everything was amazing!
