Hey hey, hey, or shall we say Ho, Ho, Ho? Tis this season but, anyways, let me get to the point. Great harvest bread Co is simply just that. It’s great, but it’s better than great. It’s beyond that. It’s amazing. And here’s why. The bread is warm and delicious, and the aromas are wonderful and succulent, and it isn’t enough that you have great tasting bread and well skilled bakers, but you also have a friendly kind staff that’s welcoming. I’m not gonna put anybody on the spot, but I you know what, you know, I think I am. Skyler, yes Skyler was the person that helped us and was knowledgeable about baking. She’s a baker herself, but on top of that, she also helped us at the register and did a excellent job. Good on you to everybody else that works at Great Harvest Bread Co I advise you get out there, get as much bread as you can. Eat it for breakfast, eat it for lunch. Eat.It for dinner, it’s delicious. Get all your bread at great harvest bread Co!

I’m the pastor at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church in south Minneapolis. We’ve recently begun using the Honey Whole Wheat rounds from this bakery for the sacrament of Holy Communion – this bread is delicious, for one, but also soft enough that it tears easily for distribution and dense enough that it doesn’t dissolve when parishioners dip it in the wine or grape juice. There’s a Goldilocks kind of science to finding the right bread for this situation, so we were delighted to find it here.

Until last night – the night before Easter, mind you – when Sue, the volunteer who buys the communion bread, sent me a text. Apparently one of our Honey Whole Wheat rounds had been replaced with a Honey Bunny.

A WUT.

A Honey Bunny. Did we ask for this? No. Was there anything we could do about it? Also, apparently, no.

Cue the sacrament of Holy Communion this morning at Easter worship, when I raised the Honey Bunny with his beady raisin eyes up in blessing during the Words of Institution (“On the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, gave thanks…”). My parishioners were confused. We sing every week about the Lamb of God but here was a baked bread bunny, and they did not know what to make of it. But then came the next part (“…and he broke it and gave it to his disciples…”) where I had to tear the bunny in half like some messed up, fluffy sacrifice, and then all hell broke loose.

Grown men screamed. Babies cried. The kids at the little tables in the pray-ground threw down their crayons in disgust and walked out. Sirens wailed in the distance, and while they were probably unrelated, the timing fit.

I think we may have unintentionally started a new cult. Worship next Sunday will either be packed or completely empty. The Honey Bunny is no longer available for purchase, according to the website. No one knows why, except maybe the Honey Bunny himself.

5 stars. The Honey Whole Wheat bread from this bakery is delicious.

Pre ordered a pre cut sourdough loaf and it was underdone. Very chewy in the middle and there was pilling on the slices. I ended up throwing it away after in molded a few days not too long after. Too bad. I really was excited about trying something new.

Best thing ever when gifting someone a meal.
They have gift bags and ribbon. Easy and comforting for those recuperating. Clerks are always helpful and attentive to detail too.

I stopped in here as a side tip to the next-door Caribou around Thanksgiving on a whim and it has been a regular weekly event ever since. I’ve tried something different pretty much each trip, but not a single thing has disappointed me! The Apple crunch is a favorite as is the Cinnamon chip, but the March items have totally blown me away. The Irish Whiskey Coffee Cake is out of this world, and the Summit Oatmeal Stout & Gouda buns were phenomenal! However both my partner and I say the Irish Baked Potato loaf I was lucky enough to bring home still warm today is THE BEST bread we’ve eaten ever.

Exceptional homemade bread, cookies, scones, biscuits, soups mixes and more. Their sticky buns are a favorite when my extended family is in town. Each month there are new varieties and specials. The dedication to excellent service is evident from the owners and each staff person. We enjoy supporting stellar family-owned businesses like this one.

Highly recommended!

Awesome small, local business! They have this pineapple habañero salsa, which is one of the most addicting salsas I’ve ever had. It is TOO good. They also have these washable napkins. They wash easily, and dry quickly and well. It is a good way to help the environment. The smells emanating from here, alone, are great.

This place has direct access from the Caribou, next door.

Bought the apple crunch bread. It was the most dense flavorless dry bread I have ever had. I will never buy any bread from here again
