Fantastic bakery that’s a joy to enter! You are greeted with an intense smell of baking bread- absolutely delicious. We got to taste some of the loaves that were just out…. The sandwiches were okay.

Awesome place! Great food, great service. Prepare for delicious smells! You are immediately greeted by the smell of fresh bread, and a grand welcome from their kind staff. I made a mistake by ordering a sandwich with a food I cannot eat, and the staff/owners did not hesitate to correct my mistake. I am so thankful!! Definitely stop in on your next visit for a yummy pastry, sandwich or a loaf of bread for tomorrow’s lunch! We plan to come back the next time we are in the area 🙂

Since the new owners have taken over, the bakery has completely turned around. The staff is so friendly and the fact that my scuffins are still warm when I get them says all I need to know about the freshness. If you haven’t been in a while, give Great Harvest a try again. Everything tastes better, looks better, and IS better.

The owners (I think they were the owners, or just very passionate staff) are beyond kind and stuffed us with delicious samples while we waited for our sandwiches! They seem very passionate about their baking and were explaining the different options to us.
The sandwiches were very healthy. I eat vegetarian so I opted to get one of their hot grilled cheese without turkey, so the person making my sandwich kindly added extra veggies since I wasn’t getting turkey.
The baked goods are all very freshly made (you can see them making fresh breads). I highly recommend coming here, especially if you run on the Butterfly Greenway, this is a nice stop afterwards for food.

Cinnamon chip bread for french toast! Stopped in for a “2nd chance” kind of thing to find out there are new owners. The place looks incredible! Everything tastes FRESH. I couldnt wait to go back. Each week, the new owners have been there every time I’ve stopped in. The place is busy and happy. We now order from here for our monthly staff meetings. 10/10 highly recommend anything coming out of the building! We’ve had several breads, scones, muffins, brownies, sandwiches…..all incredible!

If you are anywhere near Charlottesville VA, you should stop at the Great Harvest Bread Co. They are so much more than a “bakery”. They actually mill their own flour and wheat on a mill stone (from wheat berries so it’s as fresh as it can possibly be ) so the consumer gets the cleanest and freshest products possible. The 100% whole grain oatmeal cookies are worth every cent. You won’t find better. The raspberry cream cheese scuffin is also a must. The Monkey bread is in a tin, you just pull off the plastic, put it in the oven and devour the results. If you don’t stop in here, you’ll regret it.

From out of town and stopped by to satisfy the wife’s hanger. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the products and a joy to speak with. The owner provided many free samples and even gave away free bread rolls with the purchase of a loaf we decided to get. Got sandwiches and they were fresh and tasty. Good bread and sandwiches! Friendly folks offering free samples of various breads as well. Sandwiches do take a moment to make, but they are also being put together very intentionally. Parking can be a little snug but most folks coming and going pretty quickly.

The food and service is good, but why bother calling yourself a café if you don’t open until 9am? I would come here 3. 4 days a week for breakfast if you guys were actually a real café and had people willing to wake up in the morning. You sell breakfast pastries, and coffee, do you not realize how much business you’re losing out on by shutting out the working crowd? Cafés open early in the morning, that’s their whole point.

This place is Heaven on Earth! From the second you walk in the door you are greeted with the delicious aroma of fresh baked bread and goodies. We are so thrilled to have found this treasure. We got a decent sampling of their menu and honestly can’t choose our favorite. The scuffins are moist and rich w/a perfect crisp of sugar glaze on top. The brownies were decadent and the bread was so hearty and flavorful unlike bland store loaves. The owner is so kind and knowledgeable about her passion of baking. We be back soon for more treats, thank you for baking with love!
