This place has went downhill bad. It truly gives “southern” food a bad name – it does not taste like southern food made at a “mom and pop” restaurant. However, if you’re busy & decide “I want some southern type food” it’s a ok choice… actually it’s about the best you will get in this area but that’s not saying much.
Everytime I get food to-go & I leave the restaurant something is wrong with my order. Previously they didn’t give me one of my burgers but when I called back they made it right so no big deal. Then today I ordered Mac & cheese and collards but got Mac & cheese and corn…. From a can… but tasted like it’s never been warmed up.
If you decided to still try this place just be careful with the parking lot. Where the pavement ends & the “dirt” begins there’s a hole that’ll send your car straight to hell.

I feel as if “southern mom and pop” joints are becoming code for bland and uninspired. My southern grandma knew where this spice cabinet was. I don’t want to be too harsh on the place, there is absolutely nothing to complain about other than the food because the prices and staff are great. However it you are looking for a place that knocks your socks off, this isn’t it. For breakfast I feel like it’s easier to get away with uninspired foods but that being said, with so much competition in the area I don’t know how this one stays alive. The 70 and older crowd are probably a big reason this place stays busy and I believe that’s just fine. This place has found its niche and is owning it, I wish them all the luck.
So in summary- this place will get the job done, but you won’t look back and be proud of your choice… And that’s okay

39° with a 15mph wind and we were told to wait outside or in the car. We looked forward to returning here after a great experience last year on Monday with turkey and dressing. The welcoming was less than friendly and the server was curt with us. It was difficult enough to find a parking spot that was t in a pothole to walk back to the car in the cold. Perhaps enclosing the outside waiting area like “The Shack” has done and provide heaters and comfort while customers who have sought you out are waiting. Perhaps not arguing with customers right off the cuff and making them feel welcome. Clearly, the locals are treated much nicer and faster service than out of state people. The food was average. Hushpuppies were cold, turkey was salty, and our server never returned.

Just ok.
$3.50 for a beverage was crazy
Had to ask for spoon
Not much gravy on my mashed, sad face.
Exit sign said, Welcome Back Locals, not being a local, I took offense.

I’m almost afraid to tell y’all how fantastic everything was at Gravy! OMG we have finally found it. The very best place around!! I ordered the fried shrimp dinner (the menu says their most popular dish) which to my delight arrived as a huge mountain of delicious shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, lightly battered with a nice crispy texture. Not breaded! Yay! The shrimp had a fresh delicious flavor which is so often missing when ordering shrimp. So many shrimp, I couldn’t stop smiling, and couldn’t eat but half. The leftovers are going to be a nice lunch tomorrow. Also with your meal, you get to pick two sides!! Yes please! I picked fries which were cooked perfectly, crispy outside and tender inside, and…get this…PEACH COBBLER!!!! Oh, my!! The best cobbler this southern girl has ever tasted. And we’re not done yet…a basket full of sweet hush puppies with butter. All this for only $17! I’m so blown away. Hubby had the special, country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, and…PEACH COBBLER!! Only $12! The steak was crispy-crunchy on the outside and tender. Just the most perfect crunch. The steak was delicious as the potatoes and gravy. He was as excited as I was about the cobbler.
Their sweet tea is perfect and our drink glasses were kept full. Excellent service, relaxed atmosphere – obviously all locals. A very clean, and bright atmosphere. This is our new absolute favorite place to eat. We loved it so much we’re going back while we’re here. Maybe more than once. Please don’t go so we won’t have to wait in a long line to get in! If you do go you will see. Oh, my!! Absolute 5

Blown away by how good the food was. Shrimp and scallop plate was probably the best fried plate I’ve ever had. Potato salad was delicious and quintessentially southern. The Cole slaw was “perfect”. The hush puppies were not my style but still good and not greasy. The tarter and cocktail sauce is made in house and
outstanding. Overall, a wonderful find. Highly recommend.

Country fried steak wasn’t. It was salisbury steak. Huge difference. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant. Gravy tasted like from a mix. Hush puppies were a little chewy but still crispy on the outside- I loved them. The other food was just food. Staff was friendly and quick to serve. Clean. Relatively fast

It’s such a nice little restaurant and you can tell it’s a local gem cause only the retired or people that are in the know come here we got our food within 15 minutes of sitting down which isn’t bad if you take into account that they were making sure we were taken care of my fiancée got the chicken tenders and me being a lover of the weird got the beef liver it was so tender and well seasoned the sweet tea is tasty as well and not super overpowering by the sugar I once again have another great recommendation for those visiting between north or South Carolina to eat at and it happened on my birthday nonetheless.
