Always heard great things about this place, and its been a staple in Rome for a long time and everyone has seemed to have gone there.
We finally were able to make it there early enough, 9am to be able exact, for our very first trip to the Gravy Boat.
We ordered a country fried steak biscuit, and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit.
The first encounter with the workers was already disappointing, they were rather rude with the way they talked and looked at us. Maybe they were just having a bad day, not sure.
We received the 2 biscuits after 15 minutes of waiting, assuming they had to cook everything fresh to order.
Unfortunately, that was not the case at all.
The biscuits were barely warm, and very dry.
The country fried steak was over-cooked to where the outside that was fried, was mostly black.
The bacon egg and cheese, turned out to be a sausage egg and cheese, and the sausage was dry and stale. The best part was just the egg.
For $15 worth of 2 biscuits and a single cup of gravy (that tasted like water), we threw the majority of all of it away.
I can understand if we had ordered right before they closed, but they dont close until 12 noon, and we arrived at 9am.
New management is needed i think.
First experience will be our last.

I see all the positive reviews and am glad that these patrons were satisfied with their food and service, but there are some of us who are not as satisfied and feel that we were “selective” patrons since we were served half portions of the food we ordered. When you spend your hard earned money for a product which said product was cut in half and served to my wife and I as 2 sandwiches and realize that you didn’t receive what you paid for, it kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The first time this happened, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, but it appears that we were pretty much “selected” to receive these portions, so as of this review, my wife and I will never again spend our money where it’s not wanted, and to top it off, they can’t be reached by phone nor website.

I love going to places like this. A little hole in the wall place, not the least bit fancy.
But the food was good and the price was great.
I got the Gravy Boat with sausage. It came with a Biscuit, eggs, sausage patty and a cup of gravy of course.
First of all, the biscuit was the star of the show. I would return just to buy the biscuits. The sausage patty was a bit over cooked but I’m fine with that. The gravy was pretty good, had a nice mellow taste not too over bearing with a lot of sausage like other places.
It’s not a place to sit down there is no inside seating you have to take your food to go. But this place is not over priced. Good food at a great price.
I would definitely come back and I recommend this place.

Lady was nice. Prices online are wrong. Prices on menu board are wrong. Upcharge to pay with card. Everything is covered in butter. If you love butter flavored food you will love it. If you use butter to enhance flavor you will not. They even mix the cheese in butter as you can see in photo.

Got several biscuits Saturday morning on March 9th , and the bread was crumbling apart. Service was slow & workers looked confused on what to do. Pictures of the bacon biscuit

This place used to be good don’t get me wrong. I went by today they gave me their last hash brown and it was hard. I don’t know if that was a special they got going on. I tried calling they don’t pick up their phones. Make sure you guys check your sweet tea cups. I really don’t know why she cut me short on my sweet tea if I gave her the complete total cash. FYI I did tip her And to get treated like this unbelievable. My money wasn’t ripped lol. All I Gotta say is Chick-fil-A just got a new customer!!!!!!
