Four of us came for dinner. Our first time at Gratzzi Italian Grille. The restaurant is quaint and crowded. We had reservations and were seated immediately.

Our friends decided we should start with the Cavatelli Bada Bing entree as a shareable appetizer. It is prepared table-side. Whatch out for the flame! Everything about this is entirely phenomenal. The padana parmesan, vodka sauce, and Cavatelli, created a creamy masterpiece of a flavorful meal. Bravo!

For my entree I ordered the Rigatonnaci Alla Vodka. Another perfect blend of flavors. I am not one for spicy food and was happy the sausage mild. The pancetta added a nice savory touch. The vodka sauce was just the right amount and consistency. A winner for me.

DH ordered the Pappardelle Alfredo with Chicken. Another chart topping mix of flavors. Just looking at the plate you know you’re in for a great experience. Chicken was seasoned exceptionally well and perfectly cooked. Pasta was just right too. Everything about it was delicious.

Our friends both ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. Both were extremely pleased saying the chicken was juicy and tender. This is their favorite meal.

This just might be our go to Italian restaurant.

READ BEFORE COMING – BOILED DINNER

I am shocked at the raving reviews of this place. Are you guys cracked out? We waited 2 hours before our waitress even took our food order. Kept saying “I’ll be right back” and then we’d wait 40 more minutes. By the time our actual food came out we were absolutely starving, and then I wanted to shed a tear as she placed a plate of BOILED DINNER in front of me.

The “chicken piccata” was genuinely an unseasoned cutlet of boiled slimy chicken alongside boiled and unseasoned cauliflower and carrots. Cacio e Pepe was literally buttered noodles I’d make as a struggle meal. Bugatini con burrata was chef boyardi. I am so sad to see my $180+ go to this boiled tv dinner disgrace. PLEASSSSEEEE do not regard any good review you see, I was led astray as well. I pray this saves 1 person their money and time and joy

I hate to write negative reviews but this was an outstanding experience and wished there were more negative reviews to warn us. We waited over an hour and a half to get our food and partly due to the fact that our waitress was taking forever to tend to our table. When I saw the food I thought “great something to save the evening” but unfortunately every dish was a let down. Maybe since I usually have Italian in NYC, but the “cacio e Pepe” was more like butter noodles with salt and melted mozzarella. I had to dump pepper on it but didn’t fix it much. Chicken piccata was meh. Pasta with barata cheese except the barrata seemed drained of it’s cheese before being placed on top unseasoned red sauce pasta. If you’re not used to authentic Italian, maybe you’ll like this place. I can only hope they will improve- best wishes.

This spaghetti & meatball dish from Gratzzi looks appealing, right? I mean, just look at the size of those meatballs! Disregarding the fact that it took us nearly 30 minutes to get our food, precisely why this dish was so bad is because the meatballs were as hard as bocce balls. Even with a knife one could barely cut into these things.

I am part Italian. My grandmother was born in Brunico. I grew up in a small town that was dominated by Italians. Despite my mother being 1/2 Italian and not having been invited to host her own cooking show on PBS (ha!), she knew how to make meatballs! In my entire life I have never had such horrible meatballs. Why are they like this? Whoever from Gratzzi made them, or if they were even made by Gratzzi…, compacted them way too tightly and/or, severely overcooked them.

This was our second time eating there. The first time we were unimpressed as well. A vodka sauce that was weirdly watery. But they do have an excellent location and the bartender, who has been there a long time and is very personable and has a good following. (Interesting, we found out that most of those who sit at the bar at Gratzzi, don’t order the food there!)

And of course, everything at Gratzzi is inordinately expensive. Though they are not downtown but offer much better Italian fare, try Noble Crust or Jay Luigi.

We came in as a large party and even with a reservation we waited a while to be seated. For appetizers we had mussels, salmon and shrimp. The mussels and salmon were just okay but the shrimp was delicious thanks to the red sauce. Anything with the red sauce was great but everything else was average.

The drinks were weak and lacked alcohol. For entrees we ordered several pastas and once again the red sauce dishes were the best. Overall it was an okay visit. The service was friendly and attentive.

Food Review: Travel Edition: Gratzzi Italian Grille – St. Pete Magic ✨

If you haven’t been to Gratzzi in St. Pete yet, do yourself a favor and go. The atmosphere hits that perfect balance between lively and cozy — think warm lighting, friendly chatter, and a true neighborhood Italian vibe that instantly feels like home.

Dinner was perfection from start to finish: house salad with signature dressing, a ridiculously good chicken parm served with house made gnocchi by request, and the showstopper — a pasta cheese wheel that was pure table-side theater (and yes, worth every bite).

Sharing the experience with NYC galfriends just made it all the better. Gratzzi isn’t just dinner — it’s a full-on experience.

Amazing spot in downtown St. Pete! Definitely a must on my list whenever I pass through. The Bada Bing pasta is top tier and I haven’t had a bite of anything on their menu yet that didn’t exceed expectations. Been about 6 or 7 times now and definitely think anyone looking for excellent Italian food in the area that wants a great vibe and service to match needs to check it out.. Rated 5 stars, because 20 wasn’t an option..

Nice atmosphere and presentation of the food. Maybe it was the food we got but it was nothing to write home about except the house salad was very good especially the vinaigrette. The lasagna was bland, the spezzatino risotto was ok, had a little heat. The homemade bread they served was fine and served with oil which was just bland.
