Grateful Bread Company in Golden is hands-down the best spot for artisan bread and pastries. The chocolate Babka, sourdoughs, and croissants are always fresh and incredible. Get there early on Saturdays before they sell out—this local gem is worth the trip every time!

What I adore about this family-owned business (beyond the quality and variety of artisan breads and pastries) is that you can see the wholesale bakery while you wait to order and they hire local high school kids who get experience during their Saturday retail hours to learn customer service. The outdoor greeter is always friendly and welcoming. There is a feeling of community. As another reviewer, Robert Powell, noted the appeal is the high quality fresh-baked products and opportunity to buy items normally only sold to restaurants. Go early (10-11 am) if you have a certain item in mind to ensure you’re there before it sells out. I’ve been going since 2015 and everything is delicious. I like to go closer to closing (2:30p) when there’s hardly a wait and choose from what’s left. Anything that doesn’t sell is donated to a local food charity that afternoon.

Bring a coffee and a smile, everything you order will be worth the wait! Delicious. Mouth watering. They have an efficient system down for the volume they are faced w on Saturdays. Highly recommend 🙂

This is an absolute gem. There is no better bread Ive ever tasted. Of course, you must make sure you show up during the 4.5 hour window they are open per week – or else your week will be that much worse for not having the grateful bread to eat!!
I truly think this may be one of the best sourdough bread producers in the country, if not the best.

Just picked up my Thanksgiving order and it’s is amazing. Nibbling on the Orange Dark Chocolate Cookies , in between the Ginger Molasses cookies ,both are to die for. Trying not to dig into the Chocolate Pie that weighs about 2 pounds , Kathy sent some rolls as well. It’s going to be a very filling Thanksgiving, thanks to Greatful Bread . Thanks Jeff and Kathy!! Yuuuum!

Super fun experience. Had no idea how it worked, but everyone was helpful from picking a number & getting a clipboard to waiting “on deck” & going inside to the young ladies fulfilling our order. We tried a variety of items & everything was extremely flavorful. We will definitely go back next time we’re in town.

The rating says it all. The products speak louder. The best chocolate Babka ever. The best rye. Lavender sourdough? Yep. Croissants, cookies, pain au chocolat…and on and on. Exquisite delights that are a feast for the eyes. Friendly, outgoing, kind and helpful staff. Retail customers can only get their fill on Saturdays. Get there! Share with your neighbors and friends.
