I’ve been to Grassroots in Simsbury, so I was excited to see one here. My family and I were exploring the town on a balmy day. The perfect day for some Grassroots ice cream. There was a line when we got there but it moved quickly. There a few small tables, all taken. By the time we ordered and got our our ice cream, the place cleared out and we were able to snag a table.
The ice cream I got was delicious, per usual. I’m rating 5 stars on just the ice cream alone. I am a fan of their small batch ice cream. They have unique flavors which I’m a super fan of. I love their blackberry and goat cheese ice cream! Yes, definitely check them out!

So many cool and interesting flavors made in house. Pints to go. Cones and cups, sodas, water and convenient downtown location. If you’re looking for out of the box flavors, definitely go there. I got the blood orange chocolate chip and black raspberry chocolate chip with hot fudge. My husband got the peanut butter Ritz. Both delicious! Easy access. There is a bathroom and seating inside and outside benches

Grassroots had a number of unique flavors that you won’t find anywhere. I ended up getting the sampler of 4 flavors. All 4 were wildly different and it sure satisfied my explorer taste buds. I did find some iciness in the ice cream, would prefer them to be more creamier but A+ for bringing the unique flavors to life and the boldness and experimentation.

My family and I stopped at this cute ice cream shop on Friday night on our trip back home they had so many different flavors to choose from and my kids couldn’t choose just one . The nice girl that was serving us let the kids have a few different samples so they could narrow it down to the one they liked best ! She was so nice and helped us and even gave us some recommendations for some of her favorite flavors. We ended up choosing double Oreo, honey lavender, blood orange chocolate chip and peanut butter Oreo and had to get a pint of the goat cheese blackberry for later ! We will definitely be making a trip back as soon as we can the flavors were so unique and can’t wait to try more flavors

A little pricey, but with generous scoops and some amazing flavors it’s well worth the visit.
There are a couple dozen flavors to choose from, everyone in my group ended up getting something unique and everyone loved it. Creamy and punchy with the flavors. If they have it I would highly rec the blood orange chocolate chip!

With the summer heat and the raving reviews, I couldn’t wait to try Grassroots Ice Cream. Needless to say, after trying their “Goat Cheese Blackberry” ice cream, I know I will soon become a regular to try all of their many flavors.
I got a scoop and a half in a cup, which cost me $6.98 with tax. Unfortunately on Bank Street, cost comes with the territory and the ice cream was most certainly worth it.
If you’re wondering about the “Goat Cheese Blackberry” flavor, just imagine vanilla ice cream with the tannginess of goat cheese, almost resembling the texture of cheesecake. It is DIVINE!
Personally, I would love if Grassroots offered an ice cream flight as all of their flavors are very unique. If anything, I would also appreciate more dairy-free options. There were only 2 on the menu, which was a tad bit disappointing.
Overall, I loved the seating, the customer service, and my delicious sweet treat. If you’re walking on Bank Street, stop in!

My boyfriend and I came in on a Saturday night on a whim. I’ve never heard of this place as we’re not from around there, so figured we would give it a try. The girl at the counter was really helpful! We talked about piercings as she has a few, as do I. She gave us all the best flavor tips, and the hottest sellers. I liked that the tables weren’t crowded on top of each other. It felt more like we were able to have our own conversation instead of having others involved in it also. Service was extremely helpful, and we didn’t feel rushed. There’s lots of unique flavors and options. I didn’t feel like I needed to hurry and pick something just so I didn’t bother the server. She was very patient with me in taking my time to choose and even gave a recommendation. I ended up choosing birthday cake, and my boyfriend got the blood orange chocolate chip. I LOVED mine and he absolutely loved his also. He said he’d buy it by the huge carton if he could lol. I can’t wait to go back and try all of the flavors. I heard that the honey lavender is phenomenal, and that’s right at the top of my try list next time! Huge thanks to the helpful server / cashier girl with piercings! I love seeing companies allow tattoos and piercings for employees. They don’t change a person but make them cooler.

Grassroots Ice Cream, in New Milford, serves creative, high-quality flavors that definitely stand out in a crowded ice cream scene. The taste and texture are consistently excellent, and it’s clear a lot of care goes into crafting each batch. My daughter is a huge fan of your Rose Chocolate. That said, there’s one frustrating part of the experience: the covered freezers.
Not being able to see the ice cream really takes away from the fun. Half the appeal of visiting a local ice cream shop is browsing the vibrant, unique flavors with your eyes, not just reading names off a chalkboard. When the product is hidden, it puts a lot of pressure on customers to either guess blindly or ask the staff for a description of each flavor — which, frankly, feels awkward and burdensome for both sides.
If the glass must be covered for temperature or aesthetic reasons, a printed or digital menu with flavor descriptions would go a long way toward making the process smoother and more enjoyable.
Hope you consider this change — your ice cream deserves to be seen AND tasted!

Wow! I 100% recommend this place to everyone. Went right at opening with my mom. We each got a scoop and a flight to share. Our server was so nice, answered all our questions, and was efficient, even being the only one working! Definitely recommend joy of almond, black white chip, banana pb cup and blueberry white chip!

We tried this Gem for the first time Saturday night. We ended up leaving with the following: Honey Levander , Strawberry Shortcake , Chocolate, Double Oreo, Blood Orange Chocolate Chip, and Pistachio . All flavors were extra creamy and delicious, flavors tasted natural. 100% authentic old school Ice Cream.
