It’s rare I give an all around 5 star, but the food, service, and atmosphere is worth it. Their sides are impeccable, the smash burgers are perfectly cooked and flavourful beef. The crowning jewel of my experience was a brisket sandwich. I was expecting mediocre – as all brisket sandwiches had been before it – it was full to bursting with flavor, the perfect bun to meat ration, and my choice of sauce. I can’t recommend this place enough. Well worth a drive.

Update: Their Mac and cheese has become one of my absolute favorites.

Do you like processed meats from the store that they have added chemical preservatives and other chemicals to? We all know they do, if you do than don’t go here. The meat they use is the freshest you will find. It’s straight from the farm and you can teaste the difference. I got the Texas Cheesesteak and the meat was scrumptious. Also I had to get some fried chicken to try. I didn’t try the chicken until the next day (was too full after the sandwich lol) and the flavor of the chicken is the best I have had in a long time. I also grabbed a spoon full of my wife’s beans and they are the best. As far as the owners and employees they are friendly and helpful. You can tell their heart and soul is into this place. Well all employees besides Banjo I can see right though him if you are still reading sorry it’s so long didn’t want to leave anything out. Long story even longer lol this is a local business with local owners and it’s great. We will be going back over and over.

Great potential! Brisket slightly over smoked and under cooked to about 10 degrees more ! I asked for point and got flat! Very little smoke ring but certainly a stronger smoke flavor! They also with some slices that were cut with the grain which also made it tough ! I was unable to elicit the flavor from any of the rub ! It did have a great bark!
The chicken tasted great but missing the skin!
I love the owner and attitude! This place has great potential!
The hamburger was mto and good!
I think this is a great place
The sides are good but needed some more seasoning!
The place is a combo of butcher shop and a deli!
Please try this place but not for the bbq ! I know they are on the right path but it will take more time!
I love their energy!

I have only had the Texas steak sandwich so my “only” 4 stars review is because I haven’t tasted anything else here. The couple of 1 star ratings are ridiculous and they couldn’t be bothered to tell us what the problem was. Ratings with no descriptions, to me, are totally worthless and I dont consider them, whether 5 star or 1 star.

The steak sandwich uses a half pound of sliced beef the owner said. I dont know about the exact weight but there was a lot of meat on there, and with the Texas style bread, it was even a little hard to get my mouth around at first. The beef had real, solid beef flavor and everything was seasoned well. I opted for the jalapenos instead of green peppers. They were pickled and rounded out the sandwich perfectly.

Only knocks on the sandwich for us was the bread was not toasted and breaks down as you eat, you know, your fingers start to collapse the bread. We like a little mayo on a steak sandwich but didn’t think to ask for it bieng the our first time. I know a lot of steak sandwiches dont have mayo as part of the plan though. Also, they put the sandwich (if you are just ordering the sandwich and no sides) in a clam-shell container that fits the sandwich exactly, so its a bit hard to get started on it! All that said, I 100% recommend the steak sandwich. A far better steak sandwich in my opinion than what you get, for $1 more, at the place on Rt15 that boasts “a proper Philly” 10 miles up the road.

This IS a small carryout place. If you hit it when its busy, you are going to be standing shoulder to shoulder with other patrons. There is a 2 seater chair that seems to me would get wet when it rains and a small table that could seat maybe 4 on the front porch but otherwise no seating. There is a picnic shelter very close but we didn’t feel we had the right to use it because it belongs to the church. My guess is they would prefer you not. I didn’t ask if it was OK when we ordered. But, 2 miles southeast there is Pleasant Grove park where there is plenty of space to picnic and there is a picnic shelter there.

They dont have a carryout menu or a menu online except for the pictures of the menu on the wall. I definitely want to try some “Q” here but they just had a smoker fire and didn’t have any at the time. The fried chicken looked great, I want to try that too. They are working on a food truck too.

Little bit mixed. The burger was excellent fine restaurant quality top notch. The steaks I bought were a little bit lackluster. Nothing special. The people are absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere is friendly and local. The prices are uniformly good for cooked food. Beef is expensive everywhere. I will definitely return and try other cooked items and perhaps a few more of the frozen items.

After 23 years of not eating beef, I had my first hamburger there. They explained how their beef were raised and it convinced me to give it a try. It was an amazing cheeseburger, with all the fixings. Honorable Cheryl B. Turpin

Stopped by about 9am for breakfast. They were sold out of a lot, which means it must ALL be good! They cooked us fresh bacon for our sandwiches and brewed fresh coffee. We also got some Mac and cheese that was delicious!! Everything was tasty and worthy the wait, staff and owner were super friendly. Can’t wait to try something for lunch or dinner next time!

I had the chili and it was delicious and who would have thought to add potatoes into the chili base. What genius! The cut potatoes were of generous portion and aldente. The chili base was spicy and sweet which made for a good combination to the palate. Plenty of grass beef as well. I think there were peas and cut string beans in the base as well.

So if your lookin for some rockin and slamin and windbreakin chili , you should quickly head to this place in Palmyra, VA. Just don’t keep it at pup level (if you have a dog) once brining home because you sure would not want to be on the receiving end of that! LOL.

The only thing, perhaps a little less firm potatoes, however, still slamming delicious! Also served with home made corn bread too! All very yummy!

Brisket and fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had. Pulled pork is nice and juicy. Homemade desserts are all sooo good.
