During a recent business trip to Napoleonville, I had the pleasure of dining at the Grapevine Cafe, a recommendation from a colleague. The experience was exceptional. The service was exemplary, characterized by genuine Southern hospitality that created a welcoming and familiar atmosphere. I ordered the Blackened Redfish, topped with Crawfish Etouffee sauce, which was exquisitely prepared. The Redfish came with a salad, the most flavorful green beans, and yummy mashed potatoes. For dessert, I indulged in the white chocolate bread pudding. I couldn’t finish it so the waitress boxed it up for me and offered to pour more sauce on it so it wouldn’t dry out. My whole meal was a 10/10! I highly recommend trying it out for yourself if you are ever in the area.

The website recommended reservations so I made one for my group of 3; however, for a Tuesday night I don’t feel like it was completely necessary as there was plenty of open tables. I imagine the weekends are much busier and would require a reservation. We sat inside although outside was an option as well.

We came here with a friend recently, and it did not disappoint! The food came out quickly and everything was fresh. The house salad was great! I ordered the chicken parmesan. The chicken stayed super crispy despite all the sauce it was sitting on. My husband got the crab cake pasta and really enjoyed it as well! Portions were very generous. I went home with over half of my dish. Would definitely go back if we are ever in the area! Do not skip on the white chocolate bread pudding!!!

I recently had a casual dinner at Grapevine Cafe in Donaldson, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. If you’re craving authentic Cajun cuisine, this is definitely the place to go.

The blackened catfish was cooked perfectly—seasoned just right with a flavorful kick and a deliciously crisp exterior. The cornbread crayfish was rich, comforting, and packed with bold Cajun flavor. To top it all off, the bread pudding was the perfect sweet ending to the meal—warm, indulgent, and absolutely satisfying.

Beyond the food, the staff truly made the experience special. Everyone was friendly, polite, and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.

I highly recommend Grapevine Cafe for anyone looking for great Cajun food and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be back!

We ate here yesterday before visiting oak alley plantation. Rakesha G was our server and she was great! Usually when I order a nut crusted fish-whether it’s almond or pecan, it’s never that great..the crust is always falling off or the flavor of the nut doesnt come through, but this pecan encrusted red fish was probably the best I’ve ever had! The batter is thicker, but I think that’s needed. And you can really taste the pecan throughout. My husband ordered the fried chicken breast with the crawfish etouffee and he said it was really good as well. We had the crawfish cornbread as a starter and it was tasty and a good sized portion. Overall, good southern type dishes. And the local artwork displayed throughout the restaurant was a nice touch.

Grapevine is a “must go” when in town. The food is delicious and the service is always wonderful. The spicy pecan shrimp and bread pudding are two favorites and never disappoint. During the last visit we had Jasmine as our server and she was great. I can’t wait until my next visit!

We visited Grapevine for dinner on a Wednesday evening around 5:00 pm. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we had a reservation, which we didn’t. However, he was able to seat us right away.

Our server, Heidi, was extremely attentive and took great care of us throughout our meal. To start, we tried the watermelon cucumber martini and lemon berry martini – both were delicious and the perfect refreshments for a summer evening. We also had the sliced portobello mushroom caps with a garlic aioli dipping sauce that was out of this world delicious.

For our entrees, I ordered the ribeye steak which was cooked to a juicy medium with a nicely charred exterior. The flavor of the beef really came through without any overpowering sauces or seasonings. My date had the pork steak, which was also delicious. The rough mashed potatoes were a favorite side of mine. The green beans were a touch overcooked for my taste but still very flavorful.

We shared a slice of the lemon icebox pie for dessert, which was light and creamy.

The atmosphere at Grapevine was upscale and romantic – I noticed most other diners dressed nicely as well. They also have a beautiful outdoor courtyard in back if dining al fresco is something you would like for a nice fall evening.

Recommended.

The servers were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. The live music was nice, but a little too loud to talk freely amongst who you’re sitting with. The Half-and-Half was tasty—I really enjoyed the redfish with its flavorful spices.

Had reservations for 1230 . Good start , had Warm greeting and ordered martinis immediatejy . The waitress was busy with a large table behind the wall . We were 2 people and the waitress told us she would be right with us … It was 45 minutes before we received the cold green tomatoes and stuffed mushrooms … another 30 minutes – almost 145 that we received lukewarm pasta and redfish . WE WERE NOT OFFERED 1 time for any martini refill or glass of soda or tea … my daughter went to bar to get refill for water . Not one time were we asked how is the food ? do you need anything ? Until the end when we asked for the check and boxes . 2 couples came in well after us , sat next to us and was served their entrees before us ! I’m not sure what was going on. My daughter reassured me it’s normally like this . It was bad . However , Even lukewarm , I think the food would have been better hot and it still tasted good . The bread pudding was hot in some places Cold in others but still very good . I drove an hour and half because I’ve heard great things and left very disappointed that we were treated like we didn’t exist while there for almost 2 hours .
