This is my first time visiting this place and I will definitely return. The portion size is big on top of that flavors are big and bowl. One thing I did dislike was the prepackaged tartar sauce. Their fish is so good. You really don’t need the tartar sauce, but it would’ve been nice to have homemade tartar sauce. The food is excellent well seasoned on top of that. The people are very nice and welcoming.

I went to Bessemer today to buy a motorbike and I stopped charge my EV. While I was waiting for my car to charge, I just happened to see Granny’s Fish and Grits. I had been wanting some catfish today and I love to try little local restaurants and Granny did not disappoint me. The best catfish fillet I had in a while, the grits were outstanding, and I am a grit lover. I also had fried okra as my second side and the okra was fried perfectly. I told the friendly staff I wished Granny had a restaurant in Huntsville. If I can get back to Bessemer soon I will definitely visit Granny’s again for more catfish and grits!

A true gem! Everything is hot, fresh and consistent, no matter the time of day. If you haven’t tried their catfish, chicken or loaded grits bowl, you are truly missing out! When I’m in Birmingham, I make it my business to stop by and support. BTW, if you’re not in Bessemer or close by..stop by their food truck located in downtown Birmingham. You won’t be disappointed at either location!
