The service was attentive and my concerns about msg addressed in a patient and friendly manner. Service was thoughtful and beyond expectation.
I ordered garlic sauce with non fried/crispy chicken. What I got was a sweet/sour which is a flavor I absolutely do not like. This made the meal inedible for me. I was very disappointed as it’s over a month since I last had Chinese food…that’s a long time for me.
– Egg flower soup: decent with good amount of egg & tofu bits but it was lack of any flavor.
– Hot & sour soup: good – not too sour and enough spiciness but good amount of filling (mushroom, egg, tofu)
– Sesame chicken lunch combo (with egg roll & fried rice): the fried rice was decent (nothing special). The sesame chicken pieces were crispy yet the meat was juicy. The sesame sauce was okay (sweet & savory). The egg roll was crunchy and the filling was good.
– Chicken with garlic sauce lunch combo (with egg roll & fried rice): the fried rice was decent. The chicken with garlic sauce was just ok (the meat was juicy and the vegetables still had crunch) but the sauce was just meh.
Overall, the food was 3.5 stars.
Overall I was very pleased with everything, only thing I was surprised by was the “can” of soda I was given which doesn’t get a refill was $2.5 seems alittle crazy they should have a soda machine to charge that much.. Thank you very much for a great experience!!
We recently went back for the first time after the new owners have taken over and were sorely disappointed.
Also to note: There was only only one other couple dining-in when we arrived. So oher than that, we were the only dine-in customers.
Positive aspects include:
– The waitress was very attentive, friendly, and answered all of our questions.
– The restaurant was clean and we were able to choose our seating almost immediately with no wait time. I also liked the new black/white checkered ceiling tiles.
– The potstickers and crab cheese wontons were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Both dipping sauces were still the same which was great!
Negative aspects include:
– There is now a giant television in the middle of the restaurant. One of the primary reasons we have always enjoyed dining here was the old school feel without any distracting TVs. Made it feel a bit more like a nail salon than a restaurant since it was playing random background videos.
– The restaurant now only plays one radio station instead of soft background music. So for most of our dining experience we had to listen to radio commercials.
– The honey walnut shrimp sauce recipe has been changed to be less flavorful and served with regular walnuts instead of candied walnuts. This was by far my favorite dish under the previous ownership, so the new bland flavor was highly disappointing.
– The sweet & sour chicken was considerably over-fried and the sauce was lazily spooned over the chicken instead of being evenly coated. It should have been hand tossed with the sauce in a large bowl before being served.
– The green tea water was not very hot and the tea was considerably weak, even after letting it sit for 10+ minutes.
While I understand that some dishes might not be exactly the same under new ownership, their increased prices and the overall decreased quality were extremely evident.
Sad to say I don’t think we will return for a long time, if at all.
Wonton soup is filled with different vegetables, but the taste is pretty basic chicken broth. Since I mainly eat wonton soup when I go to Chinese restaurants this is why my star rating is four.
The chow mein and fried rice are delicious. I love the dark fried rice. Some places the rice is still light almost whit but not here.
Chow mein with big noddles. Full of vegetables and nice and hot.
I do recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area.
Will never eat at this place again
