Brussels sprouts were a tasty appetizer. The flank steak was not the best choice but the trout was delicious. The sides were ok but nothing overly special (veggies are squash and carrots).
It is clear they want to turn over tables quickly so felt rushed at the end (~45 minutes).
We would eat here again but go in with slightly lower expectations.
The food was mediocre. We had the Southwest Caesar salad, Arizona Mixed Greens Salad, fries, flourless cake and carrot cake. The desserts were tasty, but everything was not flavorful unfortunately, but it did provide us with sustenance and we are grateful for that. Hopefully the dinner and breakfast have better options.
Each dish came out presented so beautifully. And the flavor exceeded expectations. We were most fond of the pork chop. And tied off with dessert. Made for an excellent day at the canyon.
Our waitress was super friendly also. She is from the Pittsburg area. I’m terrible with names otherwise I would let everyone know.
Our food was great. My wife had the AZ chicken sandwich and said it was tender and flavorful. My daughter got the Grand Canyon burger with a Gluten free bun and she said it was one the better burgers she ate in a bit. The gluten free bun was super soft and tasted like regular bread. IYKYN.
I had the brisket sandwich and it was a bit fatty and chewy. The flavor was on point but the tenderness was a miss. That’s the reason for the 4 star.
All in all it was a great lunch with an incredible view.
It’s always a pleasure dining or lunching at the Grand Canyon Dining Room. Good food. Professional staff. Roger was great! And just being there with that incredible view that words can barely describe. I had the Grand Canyon burger.
about 25 minutes later, the waiter came back and said our meal should be ready soon. 10 more minutes later, the waiter came back and said they didn’t make the Navajo Stew today. I changed the order to just a burger in addition to the Grilled Chicken already ordered. 5 minutes later, the waiter came back and said the stew was being made and it should be ready in 10 minutes so we stuck to our original order.
I’ve uploaded a photo of the food that was brought to us.
The chicken sandwich supposed to come with pepper-jack cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion on a Brioche Bun. What we got was 2 slices of morning leftover wonder bread and chicken with NOTHING ELSE. We confronted the waiter about it and he said right away that he KNEW the order was wrong and told the kitchen and the kitchen said to SERVER IT AS IT ANYWAY. What a horrible attitude and incorrect thing to do. If the kitchen KNEW The order was wrong, and the waiter KNEW the order was wrong, WHY DO YOU STILL SERVE THE FOOD??!?!??!
We asked for the missing items and they finally brought out lettuce, tomato and avocado but no bacon.
The Navajo “stew” is more like a soup and it’s super salty and tasted like somebody used too much industrial beef bouillon with gristly beef parts and hardly anything else.
It was by far the WORST meal we’ve ever had. We complained to the manager and all they were able to do is make up all sorts of excuses about how the weather created a rush and they have new people in the kitchen and etc. The table next to us didn’t get their food for an hour and their orders had missing items as well.
This is an embarrassment to be representative of the food at our US National Parks and Aramark should be revoked of their license to operate at the US National Parks until they improve both their food and service.
We were seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly. We ordered the brisket platter and the poblano chicken. The food came out rather quickly, looked great and good portions. To my surprise the brisket was way over cooked and definitely not cooked low and slow as it should be. The corn was mush.
My wife’s chicken wasn’t much better…dry and salty.
Your choices are very limited at the north rim, I suggest you plan ahead and bring food with you.
