I have tried many Chinese restaurants in the area, but this is my first time having lunch at Grand Cafe. They were pretty busy when I was there at lunchtime on Sunday, but I got a table with just a few minutes of wait.

The restaurant has a nice dining room and attentive staff. The food is delicious and does not contain too much oil. The prices are reasonable. I’m happy to find one more restaurant that I like in the area.

I recently visited Grand Cafe with my mom, and we will definitely be back with the rest of the family and will invite friends here as well. The food here is delicious and the portion sizes are generous, making it perfect for sharing. While it may be a bit pricey for two people, you will probably get more value with a bigger group of people, especially since Chinese food is typically served family-style. You can taste the freshness in each dish, which makes the experience even better. We ordered the pork ribs in Peking sauce, rice noodle roll with shrimp, combination platter of duck and pork belly, and wonton noodle soup (forgot to snap a picture of this one, oopsies!).

The service was top-notch! The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. They were conversational and checked in regularly to ensure we were enjoying both our food and our time there.

In terms of cleanliness, the tableware were mostly clean. I don’t usually have high expectations at Chinese restaurants. The chopsticks provided were single-use wooden ones, so no concerns there. The interior and the tabletops were clean.

At the end of the meal, the staff even helped us pack up our leftovers, which was a thoughtful gesture.

Overall, Grand Cafe is a fantastic spot for a satisfying meal. The combination of delicious food, generous portions, and attentive service makes it a great choice for a family-style dining experience. Highly recommend!

Found this place for a family reunion that was mutually convenient for everyone. We had a party of 10 and they seated us at a big round table.

They don’t take reservations but the wait was only 15 minutes.

Food was excellent. We got assorted vegetable dishes, chow fun, congee, tripe, roast pork belly. Peking duck, roast duck over rice. The Peking duck was very similar to the roast duck just sliced in Peking duck style. So not really peking duck.

If you’re feeling lazy, they have entire Peking duck meals but you have to ask them for the menu.

We really like the Japanese fire clay pot tofu.

Don’t think you can go wrong with ordering a bunch of stuff. Good for sharing with big groups.

Overall pretty happy with everything we ordered and everyone was full by the end.

Service was super crazy fast. I don’t know how they do it. Within 10 minutes of ordering, dishes started coming out one by one.

Atmosphere was good.. clean and family friendly.

We had a wonderful dinner. We ordered extra for leftovers and that was a good call.
The service was excellent and prompt. The ingredients were fresh and of excellent quality.

The spicy salt tofu had a crisp exterior and a very smooth and very hot interior. It was a wonderful combo. It could use a bit more spicy salt though. The house chili paste was not to my taste, so was little used.

The char sui was done to perfection. The texture was tender and juicy, though a little on the sweet side.

Pea sprouts were tender and cooked to perfection. The ginger sauce chicken was very delicious as was everything else. The salted fish with pork clay pot rice was so delicious, I ate more than I intended. The crisp on the rice was perfect.

The facilities was clean and the staff practiced safe procedures and spaced out dined in customers.

We would definitely come back again.

New name 君悦轩 and new ownership from mayflower which is no joke! Foods are authentic and delicious . Large portions make them a bargain. Service is very good
Still my go-to porridge place in Livermore valley under this new ownership. Takeout is popular so order in advance.

Their prices are outrageous. Now every entree is like $25-26 even for noodles and rice dishes. Appetizer prices have gone up too with some above $20. The worst part is the quality and taste of the dishes have gone downhill under the new management. Previously Gum Kao price was reasonable and taste was phenomenally better than now. I absolutely loved the food from Gum Kao but not this Grand Cafe. Suggest you go somewhere else. I don’t recommend this Grand Cafe.

Great Chinese food in Dublin. We tried the chicken fried rice with chilli chicken with bones and salt and pepper shrimp. All tasted very good. I would only recommend to eat in as we did a take out few months back and it did not taste so good as the flavors gets lost. So I recommend dining in. They have good dine in service.

March 2024 Returns review
3rd visit
Name changed to Grand Cafe this time
Won’t likely return again

Duck meat is so bad, granny, my husband said tastes like cardboard.:( and it’s a dollar more expensive, I learned that when the bill came.

Vegetables clay pot is just broth and vegetables. No other flavors.

Rice is long rice, not as soft or tender.
Sorry, it’s very disappointing. And I just saw the comparison of BBQ PORK, it’s double the price and meat is thinner !!! No! We lost a restaurant we enjoyed!

We’ll return. (8/30/2022)

Variety of rice, noodles, protein dishes options. We had a duck noodle soup. Nice soup. Only wish it would have more duck meat.

Love their mushroom in the veggie dish. Also love their soy bean under the BBQ pork.

They serve a pot of hot tea. We appreciated.

Grand Cafe serves up delicious Cantonese food. We came here not knowing the restaurant had changed names and/or ownership. When we last came here, the restaurant was called Gum Kuo. I was worried that the food wouldn’t be as good as before, but my worries were alleviated as soon as I saw our order. Our crispy seafood noodles, fish fillet porridge, and Chinese doughnuts were amazing! Everything was fresh and served piping hot! We will definitely be back!
