While I applaud this restaurant for being open from 11 AM to 2 PM on Thanksgiving, I am overall very disappointed in the quality of food. To give you some insight, my fiancé and I had plans on traveling back home to Georgia for the holiday to be with our families, but due to unforeseen events, our plans shifted. Upset and stressed, we soon gained some relief once we saw we could get a “nice” Thanksgiving meal from a restaurant that’s open in the area. The advertisement we saw said that plates were $13 with a dessert and a drink. This seemed super reasonable. My fiancé went in at 11:30 AM and ordered (2) to-go plates. He asked for sweet tea and was advised they were out. Okay, no problem. No big deal. He just got the (2) to-go plates and a single dessert and came home. Although he didn’t get any drinks and only got one dessert, the $13 per meal was still applied, and while I think a few bucks could have been knocked off since he didn’t get everything the $13 originally entailed, he still paid the full amount and did not make a fuss. He drove 5 minutes to the house, and I was shocked at what I saw when opening the box. All of the sides were super soggy (minus the mashed potatoes and gravy). The chicken and dumplings were NOT chicken and dumplings. I’m sorry, but they were horrendous. The pumpkin pie was cold and seemed undercooked. The crust was broken upon arrival and when I picked it up to further inspect it, the crust just crumbled so effortlessly into pieces. It, too, seemed a little soggy. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and always have high expectations when trying somewhere new, but the food I received today was disappointing. We ended up throwing everything in the trash. I hate to make this review, but this was my experience, and I felt led to share. My fiancé did say the staff was friendly, so that’s good at least.

It was my first time here. I had the catfish, onion rings and broccoli. Hubby had the steak, fries and broccoli. It was all good, we waited over an hour but they were extremely busy. The beer was cold.

Quaint local buffet style restaurant with good home cooking style food. The owners and waitress were very kind, kept our drinks full, and made sure everything went well through the course of our visit. We went during lunch and there were mainly senior citizens there. Perhaps adding some foods more catered to the younger crowd would bring parents with children, or younger crowds in. The price was slightly steep for the meal, but I suppose since it was buffet not as bad. I would have preferred to have a menu as I don’t usually eat enough to pay the buffet price. Only other piece of feedback would be sure the ranch dressing on salad bar is cool rather than room temperature. Not bad overall though.

I dont give 5 stars often. This place is perfect. Small town, home cooked, lots of it, fresh, good pricing. Dont expect a menu. More like “this is what we made today”. Not Michelin, but good, solid food.

The food was awesome. Grand Jan’s has a homey feel to it. I am reminded of my own grandmother’s kitchen. You have to get some of their fried cornbread!
