My absolute favorite vegan sushi I order from here all the time, and they are always consistent and packaged great. My favorite rolls are the umami roll, yam roll, and california deluxe roll. They also have great hours and I love that they are open late (I often order after working a late shift). It’s a bit on the expensive side, but the quality makes it worth it. One thing I would love for them to have is some sort of combo/box set! I would absolutely order more sushi on my orders if I could bundle it and save a bit of money! But overall, I really recommend giving this place a try.

Gorilla Eats Sushi catered my Christmas party. They put together three platters of creatively delicious vegan sushi.
i didn’t get a chance to tell everybody that the sushi was vegan and all the meat eaters were gobbling it up also. Their food was a hige hit amd will definitely have them do the same st wveryparty i have. Thank you Gorilla Eats Sushi!!!

I was stressed out ordering because I was afraid I wouldn’t get the best possible thing (for my own taste), so obviously I over-ordered. To be fair I’m used to eating avocado rolls and I can eat a lot of those.
The menu was impressive and I think if I could do it again I would stick to simpler rolls. I love a mock tuna. But less ingredients is my own preference. It was really great to see such a creative and exciting vegan sushi menu.
For my review, atmosphere is hard to gauge because this is a to go only, pick up from a locker kitchen. There’s not really an atmosphere to be had but there is novelty in the experience.
I recommended reviewing the menu ahead of time so you don’t experience the same fomo I did while ordering at the kiosk!

Gorilla eats Sushi is the proverbial lotus blooming from the murk of the pond. It’s loud and busy on the street; the lockers and ordering feel impersonal. But the sushi is tastes great and looks artful. I think it’s worth the price for vegan sushi in comparison to San Diego’s Yasai. I would like to see more offerings with vegetables and tofu in the roll instead of one to one replacements of fish rolls.

There aren’t enough superlatives for the food as art/art as food creations of Gorilla Eats Sushi. It’s our absolute favorite treat in San Diego for a night in. All anyone watching would hear is, “Mmmmmmm, omg….”
The chef who prepares it is a true craftsman. He has a gift. I hope this place exists forever!

AMAZING VEGAN SUSHI!!!! I ordered 3 rolls, KONA roll, unagi roll, and the Panama roll. They were all good, but the KONA roll was the best. I ordered it because it has thin sliced lemon on top, so fresh, so good. Definitely get the KONA roll. I was a bummed when I first showed up and realized you have to order on your phone or at the kiosk and can’t really ask anybody about the menu items or if they have a bathroom. So I sat in my rental car for 20 minutes deciding what to get from google reviews and the menu. I finally orders don my phone and it took about 15-20 minutes to be made. I would 100% recommend to order 20 minutes before you show up. I would 100% eat here again. Too bad I don’t live here. Very close to SDSU
