Honestly so mad it took me this long to find this place. Tenders are better than Puritan and in my opinion the atmosphere is less stuffy. Food prices are very reasonable in this economy as well!
Excited to bring friends and family here too!

The hype isn’t quite there. Don’t get me wrong—the portions are large and the prices are fair. However, the chicken tenders, which some say rival the famous Puritan Backroom tenders, were disappointing. The batter was either too hard or fell off completely.
The fries were decent, but the oil used for frying wasn’t very complementary at all; they had a flat taste. My family tried the fried seafood and mentioned it also lacked flavor. I’m not sure how they could improve this.
As for the coleslaw, the texture was quite coarse, resembling horseradish sauce. Once again, there were issues with both taste and texture. I don’t know… it just wasn’t great. Sorry goldenrod.

Visited the Golden Rod for the first time yesterday. My family and I bought a fisherman’s platter, and a chicken finger plate. The seafood was flavorful, well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and delicious. My wife and I commented that it was on par with similar establishments on the Cape. The chicken plate was equally as good, tender chicken, flavorful breading, as good as I have had in a while. The establishment lived up to its reputation, and we will definitely return.

Great food and daily specials can’t be beat price wise. Stopped in for some onion rings and they do not disappoint. If your in the mood for fried clams, a burger hot dog,lobster roll or turkey dinner this is the place. They offer so much more to. Oh I forgot ice cream.

We learned that the routine is… Grab a table, place your order, and soon after someone will call your name when the order is ready for pickup.
We noted that the Chicken Tender Platter seemed to be a patron favorite so we ordered that and a Steak-n-Cheese sub with grilled onions and mushrooms. The service was pretty fast and the food was good. Prices were a little higher than we had anticipated, but they weren’t outrageous. *Be sure to checkout their “Specials” on the chalkboard near the entrance. We missed it when we came in.
Overall,… we do recommend Goldenrod for family dining, but best to check for their busy hours of the day, if you’re looking to dine in a more quiet, relaxed atmosphere.

Ice cream was amazing as usual and servings almost too big to handle which is better than the alternative. I got a medium with mango and watermelon, both of which were fantastic and she got a peanut butter fudge with chocolate sprinkles. Not my cup of tea, but she assures me it is delicious.
Service was fast and came with a smile.
Probably not fair, but I marked down atmosphere only because I’m bitter about the fact I was attacked by mosquitoes that could have filled roles as pterodactyls on Jurassic Park.
Highly recommend and I will definitely go back. If you hadn’t had them, make sure you get their chicken tenders sometime.

We were looking for ice-cream and this restaurant did not disappoint. Portion to price was not the best but our ice-cream did taste good . Service was great and my friend, she was offered a sample to the flavor she wanted.
Soft Serve is available but not on the menu.
I have tried Pumpkin Oreo , Rocky Road, regular Oreo and Mint Chip, my son, Hood Soft Serve Chocolate and regular chocolate and my friend, Black Raspberry with hot fudge. We all enjoyed our ice-creams and the seating inside.
I was told that Hood Soft Serve is seasonal.

I recently found this place by getting lost and figured I’d go back this weekend with my kids to try it out. I’m glad we did. It was mostly a retro diner and almost everyone’s hair was silver….. An old school type of diner. The food we got was good, not awesome except the fries….. They were the bomb; highly recommended. My kids both got fraps with their lunch which they enjoyed.
Pricing seemed high on some items and not so bad on others, the employees were super friendly and the restaurant (we ate inside, you can eat outside) was chilly but not too cold.
We’ll go again, I want to try their ice cream.

I placed an order for to-go at the counter and i accidentally asked for a “large tender basket” which was around $26 give or take and I didn’t really pay attention (absolutely my fault) and I also got a shake and mozz sticks for myself and my partner. Upon receiving the order I realized then it was not the “chicken tender plate” which comes with fries and coleslaw. I absolutely despise being an annoying customer and I knew it was my fault for the poor communication. I ended up asking if there was a way I could get the fries and slaw with some money back and I fully expected to be told no for the money or to purchase the additional food separately, but the two girls at the counter were extremely kind and helpful and made me feel not awful for asking. They gave me the food and the difference of the large tender basket vs the plate back, and told me to have a good day. Absolutely hate being that person to inconvenience a busy restaurant staff, and their response was amazing. Thank you to the women who helped me!
