I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken tonight, and unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty plain—nothing really stands out.
At first glance, the chicken looked juicy and well-prepared, but the texture told a different story. It was extremely dry and chewy to the point that I had to spit out several pieces. After the fifth piece, I gave up entirely. The rice was very basic and lacked flavor.
While the presentation was nice, it was definitely misleading. After eating what I could, I started to feel queasy.
I’ve ordered from Golden Star before through a delivery service and usually had a good experience, but this was my first time trying the General Tso’s Chicken—and it’ll be my last. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Excellent quality. I ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce and it was delicious, just enough spice and plenty of large shrimp. I have ordered there several times and have always been very satisfied. Excellent value also. Highly recommended!

I have been coming for a out three years. I am not sure what has happened but the outcome of the food has been so horrible. The food does not taste fresh. It seems like they are cooking days old oil and their sauce is so thick. My overall experience for about a year now it’s horrible and I don’t like to complain on a review but rather in person but since spending over $25.00 & not getting the satisfaction for my money, I decided to leave this review.

I ordered from their call service. General Tso chicken And soup for my sick wife. After I picked up the food and went home, which was A 15 to 20 minute drive. I checked the food to find out that I was given Hunan chicken instead of the general Tao as requested. I called back the number that was listed and spoke for over 35 minutes between being put on hold and being deflected away from an answer. Which included them stating that they record all their conversations and that I’d ordered the wrong thing and it was not their fault. When I asked them to play the recording, they could not, they would not offer a refund or offer to deliver the correct item to my house. They would only offer if I drove back to them that evening and swapped out the food they would give me the general Tso in place if I brought back the Hunan chicken. Would not admit their mistake nor would they work any other options with me. I’ve been going to this restaurants for years. I’ve never had this issue with the people at the restaurant. This appears now that they’ve switched over to some other company and they do not want to do business with people they want to lie to them and take advantage of them. I would not go there again. They’ve lost a long time. Customer who’s been a lot of money there over the years. I would’ve given them a zero if they I could’ve for the way the situation was handled, but you can only put one star, but I do want to warn people in the future of what they try to do if they pull a bait and switch on you and lie to you about illegally recording you. Since moving to Chesapeake, I’ve found Golden Star as my goto place when I’m in the mood for Chinese. The location is convenient and surrounded by other great businesses. The staff is always polite, prompt, and respectful to patrons, and very inexpensive.

I asked for 15 packets of hot mustard and received 2. On an $87+ order, I do not think that is a big ask. Called to ask about it and was told someone would call me. No call was received. I use the mustard on my shrimp toast, egg rolls, lumpia and crab rangoon….all of which I ordered. I was hoping what appears to be an oversight would be taken care of. It was not.
