Labor Day weekend means getting a break from cooking. This time, we opted to go to Golden Sand Harbor in Dublin, Ca. The restaurant offers a lot of Chinese Food options from the menu plus an all day Dimsum, so there’s plenty of variety to choose from, depending on how hungry you are. Tonight, we were craving for Dimsum!

Our dinner choices were shrimp fried rice, steamed rice noodle with shrimp, stewed beef with turnip, chinese brocolli, clam and chicken feet, both in black bean sauce, pork soup dumpling and scallop/shrimp dumpling and a spongy malaysian cake for dessert. We also ordered the kupo tea, a mix of black tea and sunflower petals.

The Chinese brocolli was perfectly done, with it’s stem being crispy and the top leaf being soft but not soggy. I’m glad the oyster sauce was served on the side so I can control how much I need. The noodle wrapper was fresh and delicate, with shrimp being plump and generous. My daughter loves her pork dumplings. My hubby enjoyed the beef turnip. The scalloped was kind of overcooked but still tastes great. I’m torn with the fried rice. I felt like it could use a little salt but with all the food being tasty, maybe not being salty enough is perfect. I personally enjoyed the clams and the soft chicken feet, being my favorite dimsum items.

The cake was perfectly steamed as well, very spongy and soft. You can eat it on it’s own or dip it with some of the sauce from the beef stew or chicken feet and it tastes great also.

Overall, this place satisfied our cravings!

This Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem in Dublin! We had a family dinner on a weeknight and I did not know they also have dim sum available at night! Everything we had was fresh, made to order and delicious. The owners are super friendly! Great service, food and very clean. Thank you!

Definitely make reservations or you’ll be waiting for a table. We came here for Fathers Day and I’m so glad we did. The service is very friendly and the food is excellent. Came here with a group of 8 and had a lovely meal. Shumai is especially large portion. Recommend Hong Kong noodles too

Golden Sand Harbor is a fantastic dim sum restaurant for gathering with friends and family. Compared to other dim sum restaurants in the area, it is more affordable and easier to find seating. The atmosphere is quieter, and I appreciate the calming ambiance compared to other crowded dim sum places. My favorite dishes include BBQ pork pastry, siu mai, steamed BBQ pork buns, pan-fried turnip cake, and shrimp rice noodle rolls. There’s ample parking, and the staff is friendly and speaks good English. The service is quick, and the food quality is above average. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant more often.

There are better dim sum options in this area. The dishes here are a bit blend, the pineapple bun was too sweet on the inside. The royal chicken was dry, tough, and freezing (felt like it was in the freezer).

This is my second time there and the food is authentic and super tasty yet again. They serve Dim Sum even for dinner which is a bonus. Their crab meat fish maw soup is a must and being a seafood lover – their seafood dim sum dishes hits close to home. Their manager is very accommodating and ensures all guests are well taken care of.

Not a very pleasant visit to this place. From the first whiff of smell upon entering the place to service to food quality, everything was disappointing. The entrance way smelled like the restroom whose floor was soaked with dirty liquid; the waitress dumped the settings on the table and let us set the table even though they were not busy or shorthanded. The first dish was bean sprouts with crab meat sauce that looked like diarrhea. Other dishes looked okay but some of us came out with gripping bowel pain, that raised the question of the sanitary practice of the restaurant.

I honestly never leave reviews for restaurants but I have to for this one! I ordered the salt and pepper prawns expecting that it would be the traditional shrimp heads but nope.. it’s some other type of shrimp that has no shell or head. Also ordered the egg flower soup and for some odd reason it has zucchini in it and a pea??? I guess I will have to ask ahead of time now if my soup will have zucchini and if my shrimp will have heads. I also ordered a Hong Kong style House Combo Chow Mein and expected it to have some squid and octopus like other places I’ve ordered from before. Instead there was overcooked shrimp..Another item I ordered was the West Lake Soup, it was decent but a bit watered down, had too many clumps of egg, and the beef didn’t seem cooked all the way. One other item I ordered was the Moo Shu Wraps, I’m used to the wrap being a lot thinner and fresh. This one seems like it could possibly be a store bought tortilla wrap. The only decent thing I ordered was the Black Bean Clams! Would love if the menu was more detailed with the ingredients and have more photos of the food. It’s so hard to find a decent restaurant here in the suburbs.

I would highly encourage you to visit this place. Although it’s an old style, Chinese restaurant with traditional, classic design. I was to say that it’s really worth it giving it a shot. Good restaurant style furniture, snow, white tablecloth, branded plates, and dissent silverware will be to your service. Welcoming and pleasant service with old school paper menu pick-list checkcheckboxes.
Would highly encourage you to try a Beef Chow Fun with their in-house hot sauce served on each table. Add to it Pan fried shrimp & chives dumplings and top it off with old time good Durian puffs with some tea. If you want something later, you can always get a shredded chicken porridge with the same in-house hot sauce that you won’t be able to stop eating.
Prices are relatively low and dinner for two will cost you way under $50 for the above list.
Second time I’m here I am by far not the last!
