We got the special combination plate, and was very happy with it. The fried shrimp was perfectly crispy and not oily. Chow mein was also really good and the beef and broccoli was great too. The beef had a great flavor and was tender and juicy. The service was in point, I only had water but my cup was never empty for longer than what felt like seconds. Bathroom was clean, a victim of some vandals at worst. Decor was nice enough with some classic rock for ambience.

Disappointed. All three in our party were let down. This used to be where we would come to change it up a little from our go to Chinese place… Quality has slid a little, its good enough, but nothing special. Food was bland, soup was pasty, chicken was gamey, not much veggies used in dishes, and they did away with the little dish of ice cream at the end. But staff was great and efficient. Oh and check your receipt before paying. Didn’t think to until we left and the price was about $2 more than we figured. Not sure if we got charged for water or they didn’t update menu prices. And yes, I figured in the correct sales tax.

While my husband and I enjoy the food that the Golden Restaurant has to offer, it can be inconsistent and incomplete. Once we arrived home with our takeout order of ALMOND Chicken Chow Mein, we found that it had NO ALMONDS in it! It was definitely not what we ordered. The Golden Special Chicken is one of our favorites, but each time we order it, our orders are different with either a generous amount of onions and peppers or almost none.

Golden Dragon was our choice for Friday family dinner, we walked in with very high hopes considering all the recommendations and reviews read. We walked in to a very welcoming smell and sat in a corner table, which I am greatful the staff allowed us to accommodate my disabled leg. The air was muggy/humid and it was an uncomfortable warm atmosphere that made us break into a clamy sweat. We ordered 2 orange chicken and 1 scallop dinners as well as the appetizer sampler. We were wow’d when the appetizer came as it was huge, but upon eating we looked at each other with a odd face as the tempura broccoli tasted old with a freon taste and the onion rings as well as the chicken wings were mush instead of crunchy; seems like the platter was boiled in oil. The orange chicken was not crunchy and seemed mushy, sad to say the fried scallops were the same. My girls didn’t eat and wifey & I both agreed we had enough. This is the first time we didn’t want to ask for a to go box but didn’t want to be rude. What a shame, this was a restaurant we have been hearing nothing but great things about from just about everyone we asked where is the best place to eat Chinese food at in Fresno.

Golden is a huge part of my 60 years in Fresno! From my father-in-law taking us there on special occasions 40 years ago, to our wild Tower years in the 80s, to having now lived in the neighborhood for the past 20 years, these folks NEVER disappoint! Yesterday we went to celebrate an occasion with our nephew and the food and service was on point as usual (pineapple chicken! Soooo good), and I was having such a fun time I forgot my phone at the table. ♀️ We rushed back to the restaurant and of course it was being kept safely for me, returned with an understanding smile and laugh. These people not only serve great food, they are KIND! Golden, you will always be our number one.

My opinion of the food from this restaurant has been up and down over the years, but last night it was some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The barbecued pork chow mein had a crispy texture and slightly char flavor that took this standard dish from pedestrian to sublime. The The egg foo young had a savory, oniony flavor, but it stood out because of its crispy texture. The wait staff is always fast, efficient and fun
