I had a really disappointing experience here and won’t be returning. We were seated in the back corner and things went downhill from the start. We ordered orange juice and were given extremely tiny glasses. When we asked for a larger cup, the server forgot and we had to remind her twice.

With our food, multiple items were missing — I asked for butter for my toast and never got it, and my partner’s waffles came out without syrup. He also ordered the waffle deluxe (ham, bacon, and sausage) but only received bacon.

Then it got worse — I found a large piece of hair in my home fries. When we brought this to the manager’s attention, the response was basically “okay, we removed the food so it shouldn’t be an issue.” No real apology or effort to make it right.

The service overall was terrible and very inattentive. As African American customers in a mostly white dining room, the treatment also felt uncomfortable and dismissive. Whether intentional or not, it added to an already unpleasant experience.

I would not come back or recommend this place.

To begin, the warm challah bread is so delicious! The menu is vast like an old school diner. The prices – like prices everywhere these days – were eye watering and made me rethink what I wanted to order.
My companion ordered a Belgian waffle with an egg and assorted meats. All perfectly cooked and he was happy.
I ordered a roast beef French dip on garlic bread with mozzarella covered French fries. Sad to say the roast beef was very well done and the garlic bread was a kaiser roll with no garlic flavor. The fries were devoid of flavor. The coleslaw was disappointing. I brought 90% home for my dogs. They weren’t interested but maybe today.
The service was wonderful. Attentive but not overbearing.
We’ll try again but I’ll be more selective next time.

First thing you will notice as you walk in is the bar. It reminds you to have a drink & relax. ☺️

The daily specials drew my attention and I settled on the meatloaf while my gal got the Goulash.

Both were good. The entree portions are enormous. Good enough to share.

My side dish of broccoli did arrive undercooked & a bit raw. Asked to have it recooked.

Men’s room is a bit outdated and can use a new makeover & probably hourly clean up .

If paying by card, they calculate gratuity off the bill plus taxes. An 18% tip is actually 20%

The Venue is very cozy & comfortable. Service is good

Did a quick stop at the Golden reef diner before catching a train into Penn Station. Ordered a classic burger and a chocolate mousse pie. What can I say? The burger is delicious! The chocolate mousse pie was overindulgent, sweet, and the whip topping tricked me! It turns out it was like a marshmallow topping? I think, I’m not sure. But it will do.

For a delicious standard diner fair this place really hits the spot.

Will I ever be back to the Golden Reef Diner? Probably if I’m in Rockville with 30 minutes before catching a train on the Long Island Railroad back into the city or if I find myself in Rockville because I’m meeting people for a meeting that I only need to be there for a little bit.

I would like to try some of their chicken dishes and/ or specials if I ever do get a chance. Her perhaps a grilled chicken sandwich or a bulbus chicken pot pie? Wouldn’t that be nice?

I love this place. The food is excellent, and the owner is still actively involved working and serving among the workers. It’s a place you can bring the entire family, not noisy, and it’s Greek. For all those who visited the Greek Village in Florida and like Greek food or don’t know what it tastes like, there are many dishes on the menu you can choose from. There’s lots of parking in the back. Some of these workers have been there for a while, but what makes this place unique is the people. The workers, it is just fantastic, give you a feeling of being down south but dining in New York. The meals are huge eating in, and as one worker said “its a diner, and this is how we roll.” My son fits right in watching football on the television.

I love this place for so many reasons. The food is great, always well-cooked and served quickly. The waiters are humble, nice, and create a good vibe. I’ve had heartfelt moments with them, and they always manage to lift my spirits and leave me smiling. There’s one dish I particularly adore—the French onion soup is superb! I also enjoy sipping on their Apple Cinnamon tea, and their omelettes are among my favorites. However, I highly recommend trying their paninis .

I used to like this place we be going here for over 16 years. Today that changed. Food was no longer great. Service was not great either. We had basic breakfast nothing complicated. My daughter ordered a western omelet this is what she got. That is scrambled eggs with some ham we told our waitress
The waitress proceeded to tell us there was too many ingredients that is the way they do them with a huff and a puff under her breath we told her that is not what we ordered and we ordered something else. We asked for crispy well done bacon and we asked for buttered toast she said butter was there for us to do it ourselves.
After that she never checked on us just to bring us container and bill that we requested.
Definitely not a great experience at all today. This was the old reliable you know it wasn’t cheap but you got good food with today experience this is off our loca places to dine. There are better options for Sunday brunch.

Classic Long Island diner on the main thoroughfare of the south shore. Food and service is great, but the prices are a little bit higher than some other similar diners. The gelato is must try as well they have many different flavors to choose from.
