Food was good, love the dumplings, pan fried taro cakes was good too.

I ordered Lotus root patties because that dish is not found everywhere, it’s not bad.

I had better Siu mai elsewhere

Overall not bad, I just don’t understand the hype. I think even the Neptunes are better.

I ’ve visited this restaurant with my family several times before, as my parents are regular customers. In the past, I’ve noticed that the service tends to be particularly attentive toward familiar faces. This time, however, I came with friends, and the staff didn’t seem to recognize me.

We had made a reservation in advance—specifically for their famous soup, which we even confirmed on the morning of our visit. But when we sat down for dinner, our server informed us that they had miscounted the soup and there was none left for us. I had traveled quite a distance specifically for that dish, so I was genuinely disappointed.

To make up for it, the server offered us a complimentary soup of a different kind, which we accepted. However, at the end of the meal, another staff member came to our table, took away our handwritten bill, and replaced it with a new one—this time charging us for the soup that was supposed to be free. If we hadn’t double-checked the bill, we would have overpaid without realizing it.

Overall, I left feeling misled and frustrated. The hospitality fell short, especially for customers who aren’t regulars. It’s disappointing to feel like walk-in guests are treated so differently.

Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant offers decent food overall, with dim sum being the highlight of the menu. The dishes are flavorful and satisfying, though the chow mein was slightly watery during our visit.

Unfortunately, the dining experience was overshadowed by the lack of hospitality. My wife traveled from another province to meet her primary school classmate, and they were hoping to spend time catching up over a meal. However, we were repeatedly advised to leave after 90 minutes, making the atmosphere feel rushed and unwelcoming.

The service could use improvement, as the waitstaff were not as attentive or considerate as expected. Simple gestures, like refilling hot water, were overlooked, leaving a sense that the focus was more on quick turnover than customer satisfaction. With better service and a more welcoming attitude, this restaurant could provide a much more enjoyable experience.

Got 7- 8 dishes for around $80 which is not bad for dimsum. If you go between 11am -3pm there is a 10% off discount. Portions were a bit on the smaller side and taste was fine but nothing special. Would say this is a more affordable option for dimsum. Service was good.

A hidden gem tucked away in an older building. We pass by this building all the time and never noticed it until a family member booked it for a gathering. Portions are a bit small but prices are reasonable compared to the fancier restaurants. They didn’t have everything on the set menu and had to substitute a several dishes. Overall, it was pretty good. The place is quite small but they do have several private rooms if you have a bigger group.

Came here for dim sum and ordered a variety of dumplings, pan fried turnip cakes, this century egg pastry dish, shrimp/beef rice rolls, pan fried noodles, pea tips, tripe, and sticky rice. Loved how each dish came out hot, and I thought most of the dishes were solid. The wrapping for the steamed shrimp dumpling were falling apart, but they were still tasty. The turnip cake was cut into small cubes, which was different than what in used to, but it was crispy and surprisingly tasty. The pan fried noodles were not the best I’ve ever had. It was missing some flavor, and the pepper was too overpowering. The century egg pastry was probs my least favorite. Notes: They accept credit card here. They also have a free parking garage, but spots are tight

Hidden gem. Used to be on Park Road in Richmond same complex as the old Happy date. One of the best sweet and sour pork I’ve had. Has to be one of the better Chinese restaurant in Richmond. Great service. Lots of parking available. Will return for more.

Golden Paramount is a restaurant that I learned about from when then Eater critic at large Bill Addison wrote a writeup of assorted Chinese restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond. While many of the restaurants in that article have since closed, Golden Paramount has stood the test of time. It is my personal choice for a Cantonese restaurant in the Richmond area if you’re looking for the nicer banquet experience.

I went with my girlfriend and three other friends the last time we were up in Vancouver – my girlfriend grew up in Victoria and went to school in the Vancouver area because she went to school at University of British Columbia, so we go up to visit friends often, and we wanted Cantonese food. We ordered the beef chow fun, the dry fried string beans with pork, the prawns with scallion sauce, and the sweet and sour pork (with a side of steamed rice, of course).

Beef chow fun is always a highlight at Cantonese restaurants and it’s executed especially well at Golden Paramount. The noodles have an exceptional amount of smoky wok hei, and the dish carries a lovely richness without being greasy.

The dry fried string beans are a dish that can be disappointing when executed poorly, but they were executed excellently here. The dish was seasoned wonderfully and the small morsels of pork were a delicious treat in between the green beans.

The prawns with scallion sauce were a new dish for me at this restaurant, but I was very glad we ordered them. The prawns were delightfully meaty and the accompanying sauce was very well balanced and savory. There was some crisp to the prawns as well, making the shells perfectly edible.

Lastly while I know that purists may hesitate to order sweet and sour pork, I would highly recommend trying it at Golden Paramount. The sauce is sweet without being closing, balanced with nice acidity, and the pork is fried in a way that can only be described as delicate. A must order.

You won’t go wrong with most of the well known Cantonese banquet spots in Richmond, but Golden Paramount would be a great choice if you’re ever unsure what to go with

Delicious dim sum! Would recommend the bbq pork puff pastry, steamed shrimp dumplings (har gao) and shrimp rice rolls. The morel sui mai and deep fried shrimp wontons were also pretty good. There are thumbs up on the menu if you are unsure what to get, but some of these weren’t our favourites. Lots of tables and the staff checked on us throughout the meal which was nice. There is also parking above ground in the same building. Will definitely be coming back.

We had a family dinner there for my birthday. We ordered peking duck, salted chicken, sweet and sour pork and noodles.

The salted chicken was very tasty. The fried peking duck was also very delicious. Everything tasted fantastic. The service was very good and attentive. They also cut my cake for me and served it to my family.

I look forward to trying their dimsum next time.
