Burmese and Asian favorites served at reasonable prices in an surprisingly elegant atmosphere.
FOOD
If you’re not familiar with Burmese Tea ☕ It is similar to a very sweet, and a little creamy coffee.
We ordered the Samosa appetizer and they arrived piping hot and were a larger size than we expected. Crispy outside and savory, soft inside. Sauce that came with food dipping was unique and tasted savory with a mild spice level. Overall, we enjoyed it.
Mee Hoon Soup was mild in flavor and had fish balls and shrimp. I ended up adding some salt to taste as well as hoison.
Sabuti, which was a new dish for us, can be described as a brothy soup that lightly tastes of beef, esp. liver and that is one of the ingredients. There was also tripe in it as well. It comes with a couple more pieces of beef, like jerky, as well as a spicy side dish of leafy vegetables. Definitely recommend adding some of those veggies in the soup for taste as well as soaking the beef jerky. My partner ended up also adding some salt and msg (available in shaker on the table) for flavor.
SERVICE
This was decent. Yes they speak English! We actually sat ourselves down when we first got there and it took a minute before the one staff person to notice us. Small restaurant, so not holding it against them. Otherwise, they were kind and checked on how we were doing and asked if we liked the food. They refilled our water.
VIBES
I was happily surprised with how spacious and classy the interior was. They have chandeliers and classy art and metal colors. The only issue might be too many different sources of light making it a tad too bright, and we were not too into the music choice (Christian music station on the tv).

When first entering Golden Myanmar I was amazed with the decorations, it felt luxurious and fancy. I ordered the fried rice and orange chicken and the food was incredible. Along with that I order some Nan gyi Thoke and crab Rangoon which also tasted amazing! One of Indy’s best Asian restraunt! Definitely recommend!

Orange chicken was good, very lightly breaded compared to other places. Also got the fried whole fish (tilapia) and really enjoyed it. Fish came off the bone really easy and flavor was great.

Placed order on DoorDash about 6pm tonight with 30min delivery time. Dasher showed up to restaurant to pick up order and was told they were closed and they weren’t making any food. Restaurant on DoorDash had order deadline of 6:30pm. Our order was placed well before the deadline and an hour before closing. So after 40 minutes of waiting, we were notified we would not receive our dinner. I could understand if we placed the order after the deadline or right at closing but not an hour before. I love Burmese food but won’t be ordering from them again. Disappointed.

The food is not bad, but the modis operandi of the place is funky. For one thing, they don’t bring a check to your table. How were we supposed to know that? We waited 30 minutes after finishing our meal and no one checked in on us or delivered our check, so I tracked down our server only to be told that they don’t provide a check. It seems that customers are supposed to know that they have to go to the back of the restaurant to pay their bill on an electronic screen of some sort that the employees don’t know how to use. I was given a total that I owed, but no details, When I requested details, it took several minutes to get them, only to discover that they automatically add a charge card penalty. When I told them I was paying cash, they couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the penalty, so the girl had the unmitigated audacity to tell me that I should go ahead and pay the charge card penalty, even though I was paying cash. When I refused, it took several more minutes for her to figure out what the total was without the penalty. The food isn’t good enough to put up with that kind of nonsense, so we won’t be back.

First time here, I ended up trying the Japchae today, split and shared a couple of appetizers and other dishes between a couple of friends. It was all delicious.
They do have some peanut items, but they were good about cross-contamination prevention. Definitely going to be be back sometime

I’m a picky eater and critical of food in general. This brand new restaurant blew me away with how delicious and well made the food was. I would highly recommend the pork curry as a staple must-order. It would be nice to see small suggestions on the menu for new customers, and the pork curry should definitely be one of those highlights. Toot your own horn a bit because the food speaks for itself! Thank you for the experience and many more!
