We had a Chinese New Year banquet dinner this past weekend for 21 tables. We did have some reservations about how the food quality would be, as some of us had bad experiences here in the past. However, from the time we first spoke to the banquet director, Danny Vuong, to our event itself, our experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Firstly, Danny is such a an accommodating guy and very easy to work with. He also gives great suggestions on making our event a success. He was also present during our event to ensure everything went smoothly.
We had a 9 course dinner which included Peking duck. However, they also gave us the remaining duck as another dish, so we had 10 dishes.
Every dish came out PERFECT and authentic. We had some guests from Macau and they were truly impressed with the food! That’s saying something. We had nothing but compliments from our guests, with some commenting that we can definitely consider Golden Island again for next year’s event.
Even with our packed event schedule, the staff were mindful of the timing the dishes should come out and were all still friendly and polite, not impatient nor harried. Some of them even made small talk with us while serving us.
Thank you, Danny and everyone at Golden Island for making our event a huge success!

We normally come here for their all day dim sum menu but decided on their dinner menu for lunch. It came out to be a very expensive and deceiving meal.

Their portions are huge and price caters to banquet size of a table of 10. The fish maw soup ($27.99) was delicious and had actual crab meat and seafood, herbal, sponge items.

The salted fish fried rice was not overly salted. Had plenty of fish and chicken ($24.99).

Our third and final item was the steam whole fish ($58.88). The menu was deceiving when it listed items under live seafood with market value price when in reality, they do not carry live seafood. Their tank was empty. The server told us it’s frozen fish shipped from Vietnam!

Why am I paying $60 for a dead frozen fish! Even the receipt was rang up as daily catch market price. The fish was good and we would have never guessed that it was frozen.

They need to be transparent and list the previously frozen price just like crab boil places that use frozen crawfish during off season. We felt blinded sided and cheated.

A cup of tea is charged at $2.88 per person so decline if you don’t drink tea.

4/5 for food taste but 1/5 for charging market price on a frozen item and marketing as live seafood.

This is the only authentic dim sum place I have been to, but I went with experienced travelers and a native of Hong Kong who have a lifetime of experience with it and said it was legit. They come around with carts and before you know it you have a table full of food almost soon as you sit down. This works best with larger groups of 5 or more as the more people you have the more variety you can try. They will cut dumplings in half so everyone can have a little of everything to decide what you like best. They do also have a menu of food you can order from, but, c’mon. You’re at an authentic dim sum place. Be adventurous!

If you know what you’re doing here then this review is not for you, this is for the First timers.

They will roll carts near you and as you if you want anything.
Many dishes.
Once you decide, they will check the paper to track what you ordered.

You will have a piece of paper on your table to check ✔️ off what you order. So you can order exactly what you like, whether its a soup, dumplings or anything else etc.

They have many dishes that doesn’t contain meats. And others do.
So if you’re fasting, this place will have what you like.

Delicious food.
Its comes in 4 pieces per order, so I found out to be 2 or more people its cheaper and better for tasting different types of dishes/dumplings.
There will be someone with wheeled crate with hot or warm food freshly delivered every few minutes.

For 2 persons its was a little over $50 pre-tax pre-tip.
The only thing was, it was a little pricey but for the taste and the service, it Worth it.

The place is nice and clean. The service is very good, its also a good place for a large groups of people.

Debated whether or not to post this as a review, since I never had the food ordered online for pickup. It’s downright aggravating to go to the trouble of ordering in advance for pickup to insure getting to a commitment on time. Sunday at 2:30PM, arrived expecting my food to be bagged and ready. No one at reception so I flagged down a waitress and gave her my order confirmation. She then proceeded to cruise tables in the dining room and left me standing in the lobby. After about 5 minutes she went to service area and conferred with several others. Then as an afterthought she came back to inform me the order “wasn’t ready” and invited me to be seated and wait. When I asked how long, she said it would be a while. I can only assume they don’t prepare to go pick orders until the guest arrives, which defeats the purpose of ordering in advance. Bottom line, this practice is not unique to them. I cancelled the order and left. Be forewarned, if you think you’re saving time by ordering pickup online, you may be disappointed.

Love this dim sum place. Very traditional and great selections. I went with some friends who spoke mandarin so we got really good service and they were very attentive. Def would come back here.

Loved the food, the buns and dim sum were good. There were some other interested options. Maybe try to place your orders for baked food right away as it takes a while. Fun location.

Met up with some long term friends.
Quiet on a Monday night. Although food did not all come out at once, service was efficient. Always fun to order different small portioned plates. Had everything from Chinese broccoli, mushu pork, soup dumplings. I usually love the rice noodles beef, but ordered the rice noodle pork… I think I’ll stick with my rice noodle beef instead.

decent selection, though they don’t come around as often (so you can order directly), prices were a bit on the higher end (when did dim sum become $8? ). atmosphere was nice and clean. not liking the automatic 18.5% tip, calculated after tax, during lunchtime.
