I can see why they’ve won Carolina’s Best three years in a row. I’m sure they will update the banner with 2025. Immediately upon entering you’ll see their inspection score of 99.5. All of the staff were amazingly pleasant, from the cashier/hostess to the busser/server as well as the manager. The food was delicious, fresh and constantly stocked. The restrooms were clean. I frequent many but I’ve found my go to when in town.

I know GC gets a lot of slack, and its been a while since I’ve been to one, however I was impressed when I met a friend at this one in Hickory on Sunday. All the staff were friendly and on point. I couldn’t find a dish out there with a problem on it! I would recommend trying them out once, to bring you coming back, if you’re not already a GC’r!

My daughter and me had lunch here yesterday. After going to other golden corrals I expected to be disappointed. But I was definitely not. The food was all fresh and more choices then any buffet I have ever been to plus you got cotton candy too finally for dessert of wanted. Our server was sweet and pleasant.

It’s been couple of years since last visit, and pleased to find the interior updated and very clean and perhaps a bit more spacious somehow. Very much attention to the food bars by the staff to make sure the offerings are fresh, hot, and utensils available in each item. Our server Andrew was on point without being annoying or not intrusive, and truly cared about our experience and the cleanliness of his dining area. A manager also made the rounds, greeted the diners and made sure we were satisfied with our visit. So nice to see this in a restaurant these days, as this is not practiced at this level, generally, in other comparable restaurants.

I’ve eaten at some Golden Corral that were not that good. This one in Hickory has consistently had good home cooked food for years. Service is great and the selection is phenomenal. There is a broad range of meats and vegetables as well as salads and desserts, Asian and Hispanic and kids foods. Whatever you want it’s there. It’s a little pricey but it’s all you can eat. Go when your hungry.

I’ll give it two stars because the waitress we got was supper nice, but the big man in the front was just weird, he charged us 5 meals TWICE and gave us attitude as if he was right about it?? He works at Golden Corral it’s his job to even know a little bit about the price range. Best Golden Corral I’ve ever eaten at! Food was fantastic and fresh! The place was very clean, Drew was our waiter and kept our table clean and glasses filled! Not far out I-40 either! Highly recommended!

Food quality was poor. Hand-breaded tenders were severely dried out. Meatloaf was drowned in ketchup. Steak was on the edge of too done, but sneaked by as edible. Taco meat was anything but Hispanic. Vanilla ice milk was beige and didn’t want to come out of the machine. Pinto beans were good. Rolls good. The chocolate cake was dry, even though it looked moist. Ribs sauced right but overcooked. Mashed potatoes were good, but they had 2 brown gravies and no white. Pico was very good. The salad bar looked good. Sesame chicken didn’t taste like Sesame chicken. Pizza looked very unappealing. I tried to sample a little bit of the most popular items, but my appetite quickly receded. The fried chicken was good.
Overall the food quality was 1 star. Service was nice and friendly and the atmosphere was buffet-typical
Food quality needs to increase greatly or I fear that this Golden Corral will close down like so many others have.

I really think that you either like Golden Corral, or you don’t like Golden Corral. I happen to love Golden Corral. The only thing that I wish that they had was a menu so that we would know what sort of dishes were being served on the different days. The last time I went in, they had an absolutely great Salisbury steak with gravy. It would be nice if I knew when they were going to serve that again because I would be sure to show up. I love their salad bar as well. Some days there may be items that could be better, but overall, I have never had a bad experience at G.C. in Hickory NC. But I REALLY wish they had some way to let us know when something special was going to be served on a given day.

Amazing, we were there Saturday night and the manger recognized us as we try to come in a few times a month, and made time to come talk to us and be sure we had everything we needed, always great staff, foods always amazing. Thank you for a clean, safe place to enjoy a family meal.
