I stopped by this place while in Oxnard for work after looking at the menu online. I had originally wanted Katsu chicken, but since they no longer had it I figured I’d try the orange chicken with a side of fried pork.

What I got was nothing like what I expected. The “fried pork” looked and smelled nothing like any version of American-style fried pork I’ve ever seen—closer to fried macadamia nuts than meat. The orange chicken didn’t look right either. When I cut into it, the chicken didn’t look appetizing, and the taste was off. I stopped eating after the first bite because something clearly wasn’t right.

The rice also tasted old. On top of that, I ordered my food to go and wasn’t given any napkins or utensils.

I should have read the reviews beforehand. I would not recommend this place—not even for my dogs.

First things first this is not the Golden Chicken inn anymore it’s called “new chicken” even though it tastes like old chicken. The Golden Chicken inn menu that we all know and love is no longer there I would never come back in here again I would prefer to buy Frozen Chinese food

Yesterday, oct 16, was the first time i went to Golden Chicken Inn since I was young. I remember this place being the place our family would go for family dinner. It was always so delicious and consistent. Yesterday, that childhood memory of this place was ruined, and if I could give this place zero stars, I would.
Upon arriving, the people were kind but immiatly there was a language barrier, which isn’t a huge deal but it made it hard to communicate our order. We ordered the chow mein mix, orange chicken, and a bowl of eggdrop soup. What used to be classics for this place. We were given fried, thick wonton strips before our food came, to snack on. Something was off, they were soggy and undercooked. Not crispy at all, but we gave it the benefit of the doubt. That should have been our first red Flag.
when our food arrived, they gave us no plates to eat on until we asked but they were soaking wet. Our chowmein looked odd… there was no color and flavor in the noodles, the beef was undercooked and the chicken didn’t look like chicken. We were most excited for the orange chicken but it smelled bad. It smelled like it had been fermented or like the batter had been sitting out and had fermented and tasted rancid. I had to spit it out, I couldn’t swallow it. Finally, when the egg drop soup was placed on our table, I was shocked at the apperance. It was a bright red in color, and it had vegetables in it? which I have never seen egg drop soup to appear that way.
I felt extremely heartbroken at the food we were served. This was the first time my boyfriend had been there and I was so excited to share this childhood place of mine, with him. We were extremely disgusted, so I had to leave the food there and ask for the $30 check. I unfortunately will never be coming here again and will never recommend this place.

Forgot that they changed owners recently isn’t good how it was before fried rice looked more like white rice mixed with veggies sweet and spicy chicken looked more like boneless wings noodles were mid. Look like it’s time to find a new Chinese food place. The only good thing was the egg rolls.

Fresh made always delicious and fast serving and the lowest prices in town this is our weekly resturant we go to. All the food you see was less than $20.00 for the meal for two.

**update** theyve changed menu again and dont even sell what i was complaining about anymore which was their new menu. Its now a Hawaiian bbq place. For the love of god just change the name of the business. Its not the Golden chicken inn we all knew and loved.**

I wish the company would change the name. The new owners have completely changed the luoriginal recipes. The one we’ve all known and love for decades.

They no longer have combo meals. Everything you order has to be by el a carte. And it gets insanely expensive. 75 dollars for ordering 4 items to share with a family of 3.

God I’m gonna miss golden chicken inns yummy eggrolls they use to make.

The egg flower soup was okay but too much pepper, made it taste spicy.

The crunchy noodles for our soup was stale.

Given water with no ice.

Their sweet and sour pork are no longer those little soft breaded balls. But I do admit it was still pretty good. Just different

Their Pork fried rice was pretty great. Just different

Their green beans was pretty good!

And their beef chow fun was great as well.

Over all, the food was pretty good, but too expensive to be spending 11 to 16 dollars a plate to share.

Also the service was absolutely horrendous. Our waiter, some young woman with black hair had zero personality. She aggressively tossed our menus on our table and walked away. Took a while for her to come back and when she walks in she just stares at you and doesn’t say anything. Even everytime we said thank you, she never responds. When we paid she didnt thank us for coming in. Didnt say goodbye or have a good day. Just rude and didn’t make us feel welcomed at all. She looked like she was dead inside and hated her job. For that reason alone we probably won’t come back, food was good tho not gonna lie. Good service is everything and if you don’t got it, it makes you not wanna go back. Maybe we’ll order take out lol. One day.

Extremely disappointed. The chicken chow mein with soft noodles was palatable. It lacked flavor, but was okay. Spring rolls were good. The wonton soup was absolutely horrific and unedible. There was absolutely no chicken stock in there, it looked as if they poured hot water over stale tasting wontons. I was unable to eat this and had to discard it. Waste of money for overpriced food. It’s a shame because the young man behind the counter was super nice. Will not be back.

You’re better off getting 7/11 for dinner. The rice was dry and seemed at least a day old. They someone managed to mess up chicken katsu and this abomination is what they call macaroni salad
