I was asked if I wanted the green sauce on the side and I stated that I would like it how it’s supposed to be so that I can get the full presentation. Waiting for my meal I was able to talk to the owners, mother and sister who were extremely friendly and warm.
My expectation is that it would be good, but from the very first look at the overall dish, it was full of color texture and you could tell different flavors. It was absolutely beautiful. After the first bite, I was floored.
It was absolutely delicious!!!!!!!
I went up to thank the chefs and let them know that it was wonderful. I was thoroughly impressed and I will absolutely be back again.
Food: …
Let me explain—LOUDLY.
This chicken and rice by The Golden Balance is what happens when food is made with fresh vegetables, fresh-cooked chicken, GOOD fries, and white sauce that knows its role.
NYC chicken and rice be like:
• Chicken chopped with violence
• Rice wet and dry at the same time
• Fries soggy before you even get the bag
• Sauce poured like they’re hiding a crime
• $18
• Eaten standing next to a mailbox
This plate?
CLEAN. HEALTHY. FLAVORFUL. DISCIPLINED.
The vegetables are fresh—CRUNCHY. Alive. These veggies haven’t been through trauma.
The chicken is grilled fresh, juicy, seasoned like it respects you and your future. No grease puddles. No nap scheduled afterward.
The fries are actually GOOD. Crispy. Hot. Present. Fries that don’t need therapy or ketchup to survive.
And the white sauce… listen.
NYC white sauce is just mayo with confidence issues.
THIS white sauce is balanced, creamy, flavorful, and applied with INTENT. Not panic. Not ego. Just enough to make you stop chewing mid-bite and stare into the distance like, “Wow… I’ve been lied to my whole life.”
You look at the plate.
You pause.
You straighten your posture.
You say: “Now Bismillah before you eat.”
You finish the plate and realize:
• Your hands are clean
• Your shirt survived
• You’re full but still functional
• Your soul feels aligned
NYC has hype.
Flint has closure.
This isn’t chicken and rice yelling for attention.
It whispers… and still wins.
10/10. Better than anything you can imagine.
Now Bismillah.
