First time here. Long time IL resident, born and raised. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago but I work all over Cook County.
Stopped here for brunch and ordered their chocolate chip waffle. Very very good. They have their own waffle and pancake batter for sale along with their own syrup. My friend had their pecan pancakes and added chocolate chips. His meal was excellent.
Fantastic brunch meal. Service was great (Mirna was very nice!!!) quick for a Friday morning before lunch.
I will definitely make the drive w my family to enjoy more pancakes/waffles/crepes!

I wish I would have took some photos before we scarfed the food down! Let me start with, FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE!!! They had me at that alone! Definitely a must when I go to a breakfast spot! Three of us dined, bill was $68.00. I can tell you now that is inexpensive, for we go out to breakfast often and have never dined for under $85… I had the traditional breakfast, with some add ons, my husband a skillet, and our daughter also a traditional breakfast. the only reason I have the food a 4, was because I love me some bacon and it was a tad over cooked even soaked in syrup. Other than that , no complaints!
Bathrooms and restaurant also SUPER CLEAN. I love the way the ticket orders are hand written and the atmosphere is just old school, classic diner!

Peep the juicer though, because again! Fresh squeezed orange juice! The owner being present also huge! I loved the vibes, took me back to days with my grandparents! Give golden bear a try.

Great top quality food! Even have organic eggs! Driven by many times & wish I would have stopped in earlier. My new go to restaurant now. Service was great, nice atmosphere, clean and the food is top notch! With many wonderful choices. Can’t wait to go back.

We love this place! Flew in on a redeye from LA and wanted a solid breakfast, found this on Yelp and met a lovely server, Roxy, who took really good care of us! Loved her so much. This place has been around for about 35 years and it makes complete sense. The owner was also very present and kind. Amazing food and service. 10/10 would come back again!

My church family & friends have been going to the Golden Bear since 2005, when they were on 183rd St
in Hazel Crest, IL. The food and service is real good! I like the San Diego Chicken plate. The owner, waitress Roxy & all waitstaff are very kind & professional. We take all our friends & family there coming in or going out of town, since it’s not far from the airport.
I have lunch there with gf’s and business meetings.
We sometimes stay sooo long we’re there when their cleaning and preparing to close. We recommend this restaurant most definitely.
We miss our Dear Friends
that ran the restaurant and retired. Lovely people but the entire family are the “best” people. Thank You for sooo Many Good Years of Good

I had such a great experience at Golden Bear! Our waitress, Roxanne, was absolutely amazing! Super friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The food was delicious, and the fresh-squeezed orange juice was the highlight! You can really taste the difference! Definitely coming back soon. Highly recommend asking for Roxanne if you go!

A group of 11 had breakfast there today. Our waitress seemed impaired. There was not one order that was correctly or timely served. Food that was served became cold while waiting for rest of orders. Management made a poor attempt toward service recovery. His attitude was not overly concerned. All in party agreed we will not return. We drove a distance to go there. There are plenty of other breakfast places.
