I have been going to Goff’s hamburgers for over 50 years! Harvey Goff used to serve all of us kids and be very grumpy while doing it when it was first on Lovers Lane!
The hamburgers are great, especially the hickory burger, the fries are great, and the shakes tie them all together!
The restaurant is lined with old pictures of Dallas, Highland Park, SMU, State Fair, athletes like Doak Walker and Highland Park high school athletics.
Tuesday night is half price burgers also!

Been a loyal customer since the 70’s .
Harvey was a unique character to say the least.
Since Jimmy bought the restaurant he has continued to provide quality food and a place that emphasizes Dallas history.( SMU too )
The walls are filled with pictures of the past rarely seen.
The central feature is the glowing hot charcoal indoor grill.
The meat is perfectly seared and tastes great.
The French fries are crispy on the outside and tender inside.
The combinations are varied and provide excellent choices.
I’ve tried them all during the years and none disappoint.
If you want a truly superior burger this is worth a visit.

I had remembered eating at Goffs back in the 60’s and 70’s . Back then it was always a pleasant experience. I was originally happy to find Goffs at their new location. Yesterday my wife and I were in Dallas and decided to go to Goffs. I was hoping for the quality I remembered from my youth. I WAS WRONG! The quality of the food has gone way down. I had a #4 and the chili tasted burnt. My wife had a hot dog that she could not finish. On the plus side the restaurant was clean and the French fries were good. But overall I am sorry to say I will not be back.

This is a great spot to get a bite to eat before a game at the stadium. The history of Dallas on the walls is worth the visit alone.
Service was fast and the burgers were outstanding.

I should have known when the bagel shop in the middle of the day had a line our the door but Goff’s Hamburgers had 2 people sitting at tables this was a bad idea. Goff’s is a Dallas staple that has been in this neighborhood for decades but I never tried it before. When I walked in it has the feeling of a restaurant that stayed open longer than it should have – very dated. The guy behind the counter was much more interested in his phone than helping me, and when I asked for swiss cheese on my burger he said they only had American – strike 2.
The fries were hot but dry, and the ranch that I paid and extra 75 cents for was right out of a jar – awful. If the guy behind the counter had put down his phone and checked my order he would have seen that the tomato and onions I requested were not on the burger, just adding to the disappointment of the entire experience.
They have a goldmine location sitting in the parking lot of the SMU Sports pavilions, but it was obvious wrong menu and staff for this very high end location.

I added a 20% tip to my bill. To add that amount for a fast food meal, I expected my food would be brought to my table inside the restaurant. Unmet expectations.

I wish they would use slice cheese instead of shredded cheese. And the shredded cheese is not melted on the burger. I came a couple thinking it would change but not yet. And I think a bit over price. $5 for fries

Well, I’m sure the SMU kids have kept this place in business. The service was friendly, burger was decent, the chili cheese fries were, ehh..and for the love of good the apple pie was the worst Ive ever had (that was a nail in the coffin). The apple filling was tasteless and not fresh. The amount of powdered sugar on the pie could keep a whole nursing home from getting diaper rash for weeks..

I stopped by as I saw the 50% off burgers sign on a Tuesday. Since I’ve never been, I got the basic burger(w lettuce tomato, mustard etc) and added cheese. It was a decent burger. I don’t know if I would been happy to pay full price for it but maybe they do thicker burgers @full price. They add shredded cheese after the grilling process so it’s not melted…just falling all over the place like the shredded lettuce. There are a lot of other options so may opt for something else like chili cheese or something next time. Also I didn’t get any fries or sides just wanted to try the staple. I’d give it another try.

Cool place. Definitely gives you the local flavor. Unfortunately thats the best flavor you are going to get. The burger SUCKS. Its obviously low quality and just really falls short. I had some terrific cheese fries with it. But that burger was a real loser.
