My friend got the huevos rancheros and the banana foster iced drink. Food was good but personally the drink tasted a bit bland and strange on the pallete with the food. Overall really good experience!
It gets busy here as well, but the drinks and food are still served quickly, we were never disappointed, and we have been coming here mostly in the weekends for years. It is great in the summer time with the quiet outdoor space and they are pet friendly on the first floor.
We basically had everything on their menu, you can’t go around with anything. The only item that I didn’t like as much was the Shakshouka, one note taste, a bit bland for me. The bakery items are about the same with some seasonal offers, but there are quite tasty with the occasional dry croissant, it happens.
Loved my visit to Goddess and the Baker! Great vibes, friendly staff, and absolutely delicious food. My girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast—she had the huevos rancheros and I tried the bacon & egg sandwich. Both were excellent, and the bacon is easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Everything is made fresh to order, which really sets this place apart.
Highly recommend trying the matcha—it’s smooth, not overly sweet, and worth every sip. Big bonus for my fellow military and veterans: they offer a 50% discount on meals, which is incredible and very much appreciated.
Overall, this is hands down one of my favorite brunch spots in Chicago. Great food, cool atmosphere, and amazing value. Definitely a must-visit!
Overall, a great spot with a convenient location for coffee, pastries, and food. The cafe has a nice vibe and the menu offers plenty of tempting options.
However, I wasn’t a fan of the Acai Bowl. It had very few fruit toppings, the portion was smaller than expected for the price, and it arrived melted, almost like having cereal instead of a proper bowl.
That said, I’d still recommend checking out this spot for coffee and baked goods, just maybe skip the Acai Bowl.
She was knowledgeable, personable, and so warm. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guests and the space. Great food keeps us coming back, but exceptional people like Megz make it memorable.
I want to share an experience I had at Goddess and the Baker – Superior & Wells on Monday, 02/09/2026, to raise awareness for others—especially individuals with service animals.
After asking about upstairs seating, I sat upstairs and was approached by staff who asked if my dog was a service animal. I confirmed that it was. At that point, the interaction became inappropriate and discriminatory.
I was told about a recent $1,200 Department of Health fine, which was irrelevant and unnecessary to disclose. I was then asked to show paperwork for my service animal, which is not legal under the ADA. While I do have appropriate documentation, businesses are not permitted to request it.
Instead of addressing me directly, management chose to send another employee—also a person of color—to deliver these messages, which felt dismissive and uncomfortable. I was then told that my service animal was only allowed downstairs, contradicting federal law. Service animals are permitted in all public areas where customers are allowed.
This raised a serious question: are service animals allowed here or not? Selective or conditional access is not lawful.
I have already filed an official complaint, but I believe it’s important to share this experience publicly so others are aware before dining here. No one should have to justify their disability, be questioned beyond what is legally allowed, or be restricted from areas open to the public.
Service and atmosphere were great despite the busy morning – the employees do a great job!
I had a cruffin and breakfast croissant.
