Another impressive thing about Go Bistro is that it is in a small village in Mexico! The quality of the food, the staff out front and back in the kitchen would make you think you were in a big city where ingredients for the meals were easier to find and professional staff easier to hire.
The international menu with the local influences made this an extremely memorable meal! It’s now 4 days later and I’m back home in California, and writing this review is making me hungry for the meal we had there again!
Service was terrific. Everyone was very pleasant. The food was delicious. I believe every week has a different food theme. Ours was Italian week.
Prices were reasonable, as well.
I’d asked for something spicy and he suggested a tamarind margarita, which was great, much better than the raspberry margarita (too tart for my taste).
Both the cold and hot soups were outstanding, really enjoyed how “spicy” the cold ginger soup was.
Mussels were delicious, very large. Smoked rainbow trout was very nice with a little salad. Thai chili wraps were super good and vegetarian.
Pike was great again.
Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Maybe the nicest atmosphere I’ve dined at in Ajijic; go bistro has numerous different dining “rooms”, one in a library, one in a very gardeny patio, some inside, some outside. The owner was very friendly and informative about the establishment and food. The music, violin and guitar were very nice, we especially enjoyed the Norwegian Wood cover. And now, the actual food and drink!
The dirty martini (gin) was one of the best I’ve had, the cream of sweet pepper soup was fantastic, and the cheese board was nice. The Croatian sauteed shrimp and northern pike filet were delicious, I’d not had pike before and it was very delicate and flavorful. Even the sides were ideal, with some perfectly seasoned and cooked vegetables and rice that even I enjoyed. We also got the chocolate peanut butter mousse which was incredibly decadent, the raspberry cheesecake which was a delight but perhaps the least exotic of our dishes, and the english Christmas pudding which was quite an interesting surprise.
I definitely plan on returning; with their weekly rotating menu and diverse dining settings, this would be a great spot to routinely have a unique dining adventure.
Excellent date-night place…
Set about fifty yards off the main carretera, in the center of Ajijic, Go is a small bistro boasting an intimate, personal atmosphere. The welcome is exceedingly warm (although mask Nazism is practiced relentlessly) and the service is friendly and attentive.
The food on offer here is frankly excellent. Prices are a little higher than average, though they’re well within reason, given the quality of what’s on offer.
Highly recommended the dim sum and any recommendations from Pedro ❤️
