Today I ate ate Gluttony & Graze.
I had the Chicago Dog minus the peppers and onions. It was the best Chicago Dog I’ve ever had. And I’ve eaten many in Chicago. The dog itself was good. Fresh tomatoes. If you like pickles this dog is to die for. But they stand out item is the bun. Light, fluffy, flavorful. Perfection.
The server was very welcoming and friendly.
Although we came for the hot dogs it was great to see that the venue has a variety of menus/kitchens so one is bound to find something amenable to your taste buds and wallet.
The younger generation had their jumbo beef dogs plain and really enjoyed them, commenting on the bun being soft and a good size.
The adults tried the Southwestern and The Chicago which hit the spot. The flight of hot dogs looked like a good option too but we left that for another day.
The Mexican style lager was perfect for the heat we had escaped from.
We enjoyed browsing in the bookshop downstairs which had a great selection.
Interesting — where was that energy when your point of sale asked me for my tip up front?
Oh and then said old sour lady approaches me saying I didn’t pay for my chips, because the touchscreen is poor and didnt register my press.
Needless to say won’t be back.
Edit: After several sins of omission from the owner I’ll add more detail:
When your poorly laid out menu and automated order screen didn’t make it clear what burger toppings I’d ordered, I asked if I could remove mayo. You gave me a long stare and huffed, THEN said it was “fine”. You acted put out.
The same screen didn’t make it clear about chips, and failed to register the click. Ironically, this time you jumped into action, and said I had to put it back or pay for it.
You clearly are having the BAD day, as you missed where I paid for the chips out of earned rewards points – which show that I’ve been a happier customer in the past so as to earn such points.
I then inquired with two different employees on how to contact the manager. This is why they checked in with you.
You clearly are burned out, had a bad day, and are taking it out on customers. Funny you accept a tip up front (which I gave at 15%) while taking my patronage for granted. And I sure don’t see you offering it back now so the proof is in the bad service here.
The dogs are top quality, and the buns are something I have never seen before. If you’re not in the mood for that, they have different types of loaded baked potatoes and loaded salads.
The fact that they are at the bar level of Sinners and Saints, which is one of Castle Rock’s top cocktail bars/lounges seals the deal for them.
Castle Rock wins again with another great restaurant concept!
