First the good..
The pork chop in the gravy was very tender. The cabbage had good flavor.
Now the bad…
I was not expecting to find bones in the broken up pork chops in gravy over rice. If a child was eating this more than likely they would choke on this item. I know some leaves bones in but for a restaurant serving to the public should have warning signs. Also, black eyed peas had no flavor. No one brought our waters (which is a small Ozark bottle with a cup of ice for 50 cents) for at least 10 minutes until a waitress realized we didn’t get our drinks. The bread was like a part cornbread/pancake in the shape of a pancake. Wasn’t impressed with it.
It was my bad because I didnt read the reviews and saw the pictures where the food looked good but was expecting a buffet. The pricing was for 1 meat and 3 vegetables (rice under pork chop is considered a vegetable) was almost $15. Not worth that much in my opinion.
I have added a picture of all the different sizes of bones found in my porkchop over rice.

First time here. Very friendly staff and generous portions! More than enough food to eat. It’s cafeteria style. The food was delicious. I loved the cornbread pancake. We had beef stew over rice, cabbage, corn, sweet potatoes and regular potatoes with gravy. And included were salads which we took to go. We’ll be back to try breakfast next!

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and quiet so we could have a normal conversation. The lady’s kept a close eye on every detail. I highly recommend this restaurant.

GK Restaurant is absolutely wonderful place to have your grandma’s cooking without all the mess at home! My wife and I really enjoyed the delicious hot bar with such a huge variety.

If you get an omelet and coffee and tip, it will run you almost $25. The portions are generous, though.
If you aren’t a butter fan, watch out. Biscuits are grilled in it and leave an aftertaste. I’m sure the hash browns are as well. I ask for no butter and taste fine. You can’t get a glass of ice water ? You get a small bottle. I like 2 or 3 glasses of water in the morning but don’t want to keep asking for the small bottled water. The Bacon is thick, and after you sponge the excessive grease off, it’s good.

My wife and I recently ate breakfast here on a weekday morning, after what I would call the earlier very busy period. We each had 2 eggs cooked as ordered, along with sausage/bacon, toast, and hash brown potatoes. We also had orange juice, and I also had a side of grits. We both were very satisfied with our food. Also, the waitress was very courteous, friendly, professional, and checked on us frequently. We will be going back to GK ( “Granny’s Kitchen”).
