Have not been in the area for 9 months. I always stopped here. I will at least be there twice this weekend. . Giving a 5 star because I know the Thin crust extra sauce and Antipasta will be on point. Grew up in Ironton and South Point. Both are good but this one just hits different. Did not even try it until 2010. Even the Lasagna with Marinara is on point.

Giovanni’s is a strong regional pizza stop that continues to hold its place as a local staple.
The pizza is the clear focus and it delivers. The crust strikes a good balance between structure and chew, the sauce has a familiar, slightly sweet profile that longtime fans expect, and toppings are applied generously without overwhelming the pie. Everything tastes consistent and intentional, which matters for a place with this much local history.
Portion sizes are solid and pricing is reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. This is dependable comfort food done well rather than experimental or artisanal pizza, and it succeeds precisely because it knows what it is.
Service is efficient and friendly, especially considering how busy this location can get. Orders are handled smoothly, and the operation feels practiced rather than chaotic.
Giovanni’s in Coal Grove is absolutely worth a stop if you are anywhere in the region. While it is not a destination that justifies its own road trip, it excels locally and regionally as a reliable, satisfying pizza option with deep roots in the community.

Having tried a few other Gio’s, this one is, hands down, the BEST. I don’t know how they do it, but they make the best pizza and cheesesticks! Staff is always friendly and atmosphere is chill as well.

Food was great and service was good. Some customers sitting at the two booths adjacent to us were awful. They were between 19-22 years old but acted like they were 12. Burping loudly and laughing, spilling drinks and just generally being rude to all staff and customers around. They were there when we sat down and still there when we left. Thank goodness the food and service were good for us.

This is my #1 food place I must have when I come back home from Texas. This location has the best pizza and a clean establishment. The staff is amazing and friendly and I love the atmosphere .

After another unsuccessful attempt to get out of a speeding ticket, I asked a courthouse guard how the Ironton Giovanni’s is. “All my family goes to the one out Coal Grove.” We took the local advice, and the local did not disappoint. The Ironton one has a buffet while this one does not, but the pizza and brownie we got at Coal Grove were top notch.

Well after years of eating & bragging about the food at coal grove Giovanni’s, I finally got to take her to eat there this evening Nov. 21st. We ordered , I had Italian sub , it was very good as usual, my Wife ordered the open face pizza bread with pepperoni, mushrooms, & banana peppers, but when order came to table I noticed puzzled look on wife’s face after 1st. Bite , she said only thing on sandwich was pepperoni,??? ♂️ ♂️so when I told the person who had taken the order she did offer to fix a new one but we had already had to wait about 30 minutes in first order so she ask for just the banana peppers , and then were only offered $1:50 off on meal ?? But what disappointed me was they all my time going there , never had anything wrong , but just bothered me that it was wife’s meal after it took so long to get her there! We will go back but will be a little bit more conscious on what we order??? Coupon on another sandwich would have been good, not just $1:50 off????

For the most part, this is the best pizza around. Seems here lately the pizzas are coming out slightly undercooked. Management has always made it right. You just have to call and make them aware of any issues, and they will handle it. Still a great place to eat in or out.
