The gyu steak was underwhelming for us, and we did not have a choice in the rareness of the steak. It was very well done, but we prefer something medium rare. The salmon sashimi was my favorite and reminded me of certain ceviche I’ve had but with an asian twist with the wakame and sesame. Blue fin tataki was alright but my preference would be to sear the fish less cooked with a hotter sear so only the outside gets cooked. Still a solid meal with friendly staff and nice ambiance. I don’t see myself visiting a lot but it hit my sushi craving!
We popped in for a quick bite of sushi and were very satisfied. I had a custom substitution on the sushi roll and they were able to accommodate with no problem. Sushi came out very fast and tasted great.
The best part however was the hidden gem of the Lychee Sweet Tea – that was SO GOOD!! Very sweet, but the flavor was perfect!
Service was great and the restaurant was clean and cozy. Not too busy on a Saturday afternoon, and it served as a lovely respite from the rain.
We’re from out of town otherwise I’d be here very often!
When I got home with my food, there wasn’t an extra sauce, but worse, the one I had was barely filled. It had like 1/16” of sauce in it. So I headed back to get some sauce and pout out the tiny amount. This was just inconvenient, but,Then it got weird.
The hostess/server looked up my order and said, “There’s an extra charge for more sauce.” (Never has been) And, next time I’d have to pay. She handed me a sauce. When I pointed out that I really wanted 2 sauces, that the first was basically empty. She absolutely refused to acknowledge the lame first sauce, and would not give me a “second sauce.” I told her I’d been a customer for years, but she didn’t care one iota. Then when I said, “Well you’ve just lost a customer.” She responded with “Ok, give me the sauce back then.”
Sadly, as much as I’ve enjoyed their food over the years, I’ve also enjoyed the customer care and hospitality that no longer seems to exist.
We had the Signature Edit menu and loved everything — the thin-sliced Hamachi with ponzu truffle was so delicate, the weekly-changing sushi and sashimi platter was beautiful and full of variety, and the Tsukiji Fish Sampler let us try amazing seasonal catches. The Scallop Udon Soup was warm and comforting, and the Bara Roll with soy-marinated bluefin tuna was the perfect ending.
Not only was the food incredible, but the service was warm and attentive. If you love sushi or just want a special night out, this place is a must. ✨
