As I said. The food itself was lovely. Just a shame to see such a tiny portion for such a price tag! This review is more to allow other customers to double check portion sizes
A 3 star review based on the whole dining experience. However, the food is fantastic.
For me they drop 1 star because of the service. This is the 2nd time I have eaten here. Both times the food was great. Both times, the service was shocking. We dined as a table of 3, had some poppadoms then move straight on to mains. It was about 25 minutes after the popadoms were brought out, that our food order was taken. Food came out and was awesome. I’d did take time, but it was busy. We were not offered any more drinks. Once we had finished, it took 35 minutes for the bill to arrive after asking.
The 2nd star was dropped for the value during the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme. They have a new menu. I don’t know when this was put in place, but my suspicions are that it was not long before the EOTHO scheme started. I think they have raised their prices, so no discount is passed onto the customer. I think they are using the scheme to receive a £10 per cover supplement to the restaurant. Our meal with the discount came to £60!!! Before the discount £90!!!!!!! For 3 mains, 3 rice, 2 bread, 2 sides, 4 cokes and small house wine. Are you having a laugh? I think they are abusing the scheme. The bill was literally £10 per person too expensive, based on the full £90 bill.
There as some resutarants who are not in the scheme. The only reason I can think why, is because they avoid tax somehow. I think Ginger, morally, sits with them. Despite how good the food is, I will not return. Especially if I am expected to pay £90 if I was to return and have the same meal.
