We had a tailgate at a recent Canes game and had Gills Catering cater the event. Steve and the team did a fantastic job — the pulled pork was excellent, and guests raved about a few of the sides (especially the hush puppies, mac & cheese, and corn on the cob). I recommended them to a friend immediately after the event — I’d absolutely order from them again!

It is hard to impress me when it comes to pork bbq. But at a septic installers work shop in Cedar Grove Gillis’s BBQ catered the lunch. Best BBQ I have ever eaten, green beans were cooked to perfection.
Also enjoyed the Mac and cheese.

We had Gillis’s cater our work Christmas party and were blown away! The food was amazing, everyone was very impressed. The employee that delivered it was super friendly and very helpful getting everything in and set up. We got three entrées and sides to go with, all tasted incredible! And definitely don’t skip the cobbler! Thank you, will highly recommend and use again!

Catered our Anniversary party recently. Food arrived hot and on time. Got lots of comments that the food was excellent especially the BBQ chicken and the hush puppies. Came with plenty of tea and lemonade and especially appreciate the paper products along with serving spoons and tongs. All the food we had was delicious, the BBQ, the chicken, the coleslaw, the green beans, the baked beans, the boiled potatoes. Excellent food and service. Would absolutely use them again.

Gillis Catering is my go-to for feeding a crowd. I’ve used them for my rehearsal dinner (had to show the yankees what good NC bbq is), and a 30 person family picnic (on multiple occasions). The food arrives on time, hot and ready to go. I’ve never been disappointed. And I highly recommend the hush puppies. No one orders these for a catering event because all other hush puppies get nasty when they cool off. Not true for Gillis. The mojo or love in those things make them ahhh-mazing even the next day. Gotta order you some gillis!

I have used Gillis’s many times. Love their BBQ. Best of any!! Clean….no junk. Also, they do a delicious brisket and pork loin. Their BBQ chicken is my least favorite. Their mashed potatoes are real potatoes and not boxed. Delicious southern cole slow. Don’t care for the potatoes prepared in the oven with red sauce on them but everything else is really, really good. Fair price, too!

Steve James and crew catered the reception for my son’s wedding. As a little blue grass band played lively tunes our guests enjoyed absolutely delicious chopped BBQ, fried chicken, the best baked beans ever, cole slaw, hushpuppies and extra BBQ sauce. The order came with enough iced tea and lemonade as well as the paper products. (We opted to use our own paper products but didn’t need to.) I have tried lots of area BBQ but I do believe I have found the best! The delivery fee was minimal and everything arrived exactly when Mr. James said it would. Totally a five star experience.
