Why would I drive 45 minutes to Gibby’s? Simple—I’d never tried “Teaberry” ice cream, and Gibby’s was the closest place serving this local Pennsylvania curiosity. Homemade, too.

So what exactly is “Teaberry” ice cream? It’s made from a tiny red Pennsylvania berry with a flavor that’s hard to pin down. Not quite mint, not quite spearmint, not quite wintergreen—but somewhere in that spectrum. That’s the aftertaste. The front taste? Totally different. The closest I can compare it to is old-school Bazooka gum.

So if you like Bazooka gum with a refreshing minty finish, all wrapped in the Pepto-Bismol-pink package, this might be your new favorite ice cream flavor.

Was it worth the drive to Gibby’s? Absolutely.
Would I go out of my way to buy it again? Nope.
Would I eat it if I saw it on another menu? Yup! For sure.

Gibby’s is an old school ice cream shop, the type you’d expect to find only soft serve at. Thankfully, they have a decent assortment of hard, hand scooped flavors.

I went with a peanut butter theme, ordering a large Chocolate Peanut Butter with Peanut Butter Chipple. My wife had Coconut Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip, my son Strawberry Cheesecake. My son and I both considered ours to be “fine”, but too whipped for “hard” ice cream. My wife didn’t really care for her Coconut Cream much at all, but considered the Mint Chocolate Chip to be above average, at least.

Gibby’s is a good place to take the family. Between the hard and soft flavors on offer, and the nice looking dipped waffle cones, folks will be happy in general. But this isn’t really the place for die hard ice cream fans.

I haven’t been to an ice cream place like this in over 20 years! This really took me back. Gibby’s is a family owned ice cream parlor that’s made ice cream since 1954. They’re located on Veterans Hwy in Levittown not far from Bristol, PA. They have a variety of ice cream flavors. It was 23 today but whose counting! The options are soft serve, hard or yogurt ice cream on sugar or waffle cones. Other options were shakes, sundaes, gelatos, specialty sundaes and novelties such as ice cream sandwiches and chocolate banana pops. You can pre-order custom cakes. I purchased cake batter ice cream on a waffle cone with rainbow sprinkles. Oh my, I felt like a kid again! I had sticky fingers, ice cream dripping down my arms, an ice cream mustache & sprinkles all over my clothes. Fun times!!! Unfortunately, there were only five toppings if you didn’t purchase a sundae. If you’re anywhere near Levittown definitely try it! If you’re several miles away…I’d still say try it. It’s worth the drive.

The amount they charge for a small soft cone is a joke. For what you get. We spent $7.40. You get a bigger cone at McDonald’s or Burger King for less than $2. It was my first time here and will be my last. I would recommend Dairy Delight on Rt. 13 in Levittown.

The chocolate peanut butter shake has a real peanut flavor to it. It tastes like the blended peanuts and put it in a shake. They have a rare teaberry flavor ice cream.

I can’t believe after all these years of being in the same location, they have not put out any picnic tables in the shade for customers. They have not made any lines to keep people in line with the window. The ice cream is ok, the prices are too high, and they don’t seem to care about the comfort of the customer. At least power wash the concrete curbs so the kids can sit and enjoy their ice cream. No one wants their children in their car with an ice cream cone in 90° weather. It’s very disappointment when a company doesn’t care about their customers
