Without question the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. Expensive dinner for what it is…. Claimed it was family style but given the portion sizes, I wouldn’t say it’s even close. The sauce they used for the pasta tasted more like an enchilada sauce. Service was good and friendly, but that’s the only positive thing I’ll say about it. Server though did ask if we wanted more salad and bread, which we said yes to. She failed to tell us they would charge us $4 more. That’s a pet peeve of mine, you should always warn customers if they are about to be charged more. Won’t be back

So 2 family members got the ribeye, which was decent for the price. It was cooked to the customers request(med, well) and was average price for a steak at any steakhouse. Now on to the Italian food. It was edible and temp was good. Meatballs dry and bland, ravioli was homemade and tasted like flour. The sauce was pretty good on both the ravioli and spaghetti. Salad was decent, bread was decent. Honestly thought it was way overpriced for what you get. Staff was short with us, didn’t explain any about how it comes as family meals, kind of weird. Look it wasn’t horrible but for three adults it cost over 100 bucks for mediocre food. That’s overboard if you ask me.

I’ve never seen a ribeye steak so full of gristle let alone be served one at a restaurant. Half of the steak was inedible because of this. The other half was decent but over seasoned. Even though it was cooked rare like I wanted it was not juicy, meaning it had probably been in storage for a long time. The raviolis seemed handmade but were undercooked & tasted floury. The meatballs were bland & dry inside.
I’m giving two stars because the salad & spaghetti were pretty good & the young waitstaff were polite & attentive.

This place is a shell of its former self. Judging by the aging decor its heyday was the 1970’s & the current owners seem content with running this once reputable establishment into the ground.

I had a party of three that was seated in an area near the register. The wait staff seemed out of sync with hardly any patrons, though the restaurant could hold quite a few people. We were asked by two different people if we had menus, had ordered, or had drink order taken. The ambient lighting was atrocious. It was so dark that I couldn’t see the color of my food. What lighting they did have was blue and red. It seemed like club lighting. We came because it was the only restaurant that advertised veal on their menus online. The veal had to be sawed with the butter knife we were provided. The crispy batter on the veal was actually burnt. The salad was drenched in a house dressing of mainly vinegar. The bread looked toasted, yet was soggy with garlic butter. The meatballs were heavily pressed and had to be cut with a knife and fork. The only thing I thought was okay was the spaghetti noodles. They did appear to be homemade (thick and tender) and I did appreciate that. I felt compelled to warn people of this place considering how much we spent on a meal we physically couldn’t chew. EDIT: Husband would like me to mention the Italian sausage was filled with water when you cut into them. They seemed to be frozen and thawed. And the ravioli dough was very dense with very little filling and were not consistent in size or shape. I wonder who is cooking on the days these 5 star ratings happen.

I say avoid this place if you can. First thing i noticed was the decor from 1960. Its ridiculous. The meatball was dry and unseasoned. Ravioli was plain and doughy. Chicken Alfredo was ok. Paid twice as much as its worth. Waitress never checked on me till i had all the plates on the edge of the table. Go to Pete’s Place instead. You will be glad you did.

Would give 10 stars…..
Even after all these years it’s STILL the best family style Italian dining experience in the area. They’ve not “sold out” to all the modern hype and we appreciate that.
Good job, folks! The elders appreciate your service and care for the customers.
P.S…. the Chateaubriand is to die for! Cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with all flavors you dream of!

Great steaks, melt in your mouth. Most steaks come withrough potatoes & salad. Not here. Big bowl of salad, then large plate of spaghetti with another bowl that had 2 big meatballs & 4 ravioli, plus a basket of bread. It was just my wife & I, was stuffed when we left. Try the Lamb fries, delicious. My first time, loved them.

My first review post EVER. Waste of money. I’m from Charleston SC w great Italian restaurants. I almost walked out when I saw the prices. I ordered the spaghetti because it was the least price dinner at $16.50. Could not eat it because it was just that bad. Other negative reviews were right on. Just wished I had read them before I sat down. For the positive reviews, you must be talking about a different italian restaurant. Oh and the men’s bathroom was filthy. Years of Piss stains in the cracks of the tile. Carpet in the dining area also filthy from years of neglect.

My friend loves this restaurant. For a city the size of McAlester, it’s probably considered one of the better places to eat. It is pricey for the area in my opinion, but it’s a local favorite. It’s likely a difference in taste preference and the availability of more options in my area.

It’s rural Oklahoma Italian (they had to adapt) and it’s Great! Incredible steaks and spaghetti (sauce is brilliant), ravioli, fried chicken and much more. You order your entrée and you will also get the rest served family style. It’s not Olive Garden – the recipes have been passed down for generations, real Old Country family secrets. Stick with basics for entrées. And never order veal in a small town place. They don’t have the demand or price to serve great veal. And yes, the place was there in 1959. I first ate there in 1969 on a first date that lasted seven years. The lighting is perfect, soft and pleasing — not dark. Think “Art Deco.” Happily the look and feel has not changed since well before my first visit 46 years ago. I’ve traveled over two million miles, to every state and most countries and dined in the finest in each. This place is still one of my favorites.
