We stopped by Germain’s Chicken Sandwiches on a trip to Gainesville based on their Diners Dive Inns and Dives affiliation. We were not fans at all of the chicken sandwiches, mine had the grizzle from the top of chicken legs in it and my wife’s was not good at all and she threw it out after two bites. The place seemed popular with the vaping crowd (very considerate groups sitting outdoors) and students. The establishment was simple and clean with music that was soft albeit tailored for the students. We thought it was worth the stop but definitely not a good experience or taste for us.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the shop. The two workers that were at the counter seemed pretty friendly. Inside the shop was clean. Would’ve have love to eat in shop but I was a little under the weather and it was about 30 minutes to close so I decided to get take out. They had it ready within the time promised and it was warm and fresh. I got the “Angry Bird”. I am a big spice queen and normally can’t get enough- Jalapeño, ghost pepped, carolina reaper, hot chili oil, Sichuan pepper, wasabi . The flavor of the sandwich was great and the crisp of the chicken was fantastic. However, this time the spice was too much I actually had to rinse it off so I could eat it. If you’re going for the AB, get extra ranch Anyways… I 100% DO recommend going to Germain’s. Just maybe not for the spicy one

Hands down, the BEST chicken place in GNV. We were in the area for lunch and ordered a What The Flock to share.

Took about 10-12 minutes to be ready. The chicken was huge and fried to perfection. Fries were also good. Garlic parm sauce was excellent ☀️✨️

We sat outside and played giant checkers on one of the tables. Nice spot for date lunch/dinner or takeout. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Cocktails and canned alcoholic beverages are also served.

I visited Germain’s after a recommendation from my specialty doctor at Shands. I was a bit overwhelmed when I walked in and looked at the menu because the various flavors of chicken tenders looked tempting, but so did the options for chicken sandwiches. The lady at the counter got me with the recommendation to try the garlic parm-style chicken sandwich. I must say it was a great choice! Not only does it come with garlic parm sauce, but it is also adorned with their special sauce (think Big Mac sauce), tomato, lettuce, and topped off with a bread and butter pickle. Normally I do not love bread and butter pickles because I am a dill pickle or spicy pickle girl, but those lovely chips were the perfect way to top off this sandwich. I was able to finish the sandwich (look at how large it is in the picture) but was only able to eat about 1/4 of the fabulously flavored fries. They had herbs and spices topping them that I could not nail down but who cares because they were fresh and delicious! I also drank a passion fruit sweet tea, which was recommended by the server at the counter. It tasted more like juice than tea, but I was able to try it before I bought it and if it is a staple, I recommend it. My husband got a light lager to accompany his giant classic chicken sandwich. The restaurant has cute modern stylings and a cute covered outdoor area with large checkers that can be played atop a blanket board. I am recommending my friends and family should stop here when they are passing through or visiting because it is worth the 15 or so minutes off the highway.

Ordered the KFC, Korean fried chicken, all of the meat is dark mean and filets are double fried. Ordered to go, ranch fries are standard with the sandwiches and are crispy and amazing! The sandwich was okay, kimchi was mushy, not a normal mushy and my preference is kitchen should have a crunch. Brioche bun, excellent.
Staff was not too friendly, was not helpful at all when ordering, especially since this was my first visit. Atmosphere is ok large open floor plan with covered outdoor seating.
May return to try a different sandwich, would not recommend the kfc.
Would recommend for anyone to try this place.

This is the best chicken sandwich spot in town. Cozy vibes inside, games available, and nestled in a great spot. I got the DLX sandwich, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it again. My family got the blue bird, which was good, but extra saucy (messy), and they wished there was more bleu cheese. The fries are great, and the drinks were delicious!! Staff was incredibly warm and friendly. Can’t wait to come back!

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and the people who run it. As someone with celiac disease, it’s really hard to find places that I can eat safely, much less places that the food absolutely blows me away every time. A fried chicken sandwich is something I never get to experience and I’m so grateful that they offer gluten free fried chicken. Their sandwiches and tenders are incredible, and their ranch fries are hands down my favorite fries. They are thin and crispy (and you can get them extra crispy!), and the seasoning on them really elevates them. All of their sauces are amazing, too. The folks that run Germaine’s are so kind and accommodating. Make sure you check out their new restaurant, Dunbar, right down the street too for an INCREDIBLE dinner experience as well.

This chicken sandwich was actually insane. Perfectly crispy, juicy, crazy flavorful no notes. One bite and I was locked in. Easily one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had. Cool vibe, friendly staff, 10/10 would demolish again.

I drove from Jacksonville to finally have a proper chicken sandwich since being diagnosed with celiac disease over 5 years ago. That’s right I suffered during the great chicken sandwich emergence of 2019. The entire sandwich was gluten free. The fried chicken was crispy well seasoned and just delicious. The bun….when you have to remind yourself it’s gluten free you know it’s good. It was amazing. It didn’t break apart. I felt like I was eating the same as everyone else. The staff was great. 100 out of 10. I will gladly driver over an hour to partake in this sandwich again!!!

We usually come to Germain’s for their chicken sandwiches at lunch or dinner, but decided to check out their Sunday Brunch (they only do it on the 3rd Sunday of every month). Totally worth it.

The chicken and waffles were the best thing we had. Chicken was hot, crispy, and juicy, and the brown butter syrup on top was amazing. The mochi waffle had a chewy texture that was different but really good. Favorite thing on the menu for sure.

The steak sando was huge and super filling. Tender ribeye with chili mayo, caramelized onions, arugula, and sun-dried tomato spread. Kinda reminded me of a roast beef sandwich but way more flavorful. Fries on the side were perfect too.

Tried the Peaky Keen mocktail with peach flavors and a tajín + chamoy rim. Tasted good but way too much ice and not enough drink.

The lemon ricotta pancakes were massive. Fluffy with crispy edges, and the limoncello honey syrup was delicious without being too sweet. Definitely had to take some home.

Brunch was busy but fun. They have little games at the bar like tic-tac-toe and hook and ring which made it more chill. Service was quick and food came out in less than 10 minutes. Seating’s good, but a lot of it is sunny unless you grab a shaded spot.

Overall, really enjoyed it and would come back for brunch again.
