Dinner consisted a couple entrees- first their grilled seafood platter, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops and lobster tail. It was served with a mushroom risotto. Simply amazing. Second, 12oz prime rib smashed potatoes and salad, also delicious. Rounding out third was the bacon wrapped scallops, mushroom risotto and salad. All three could not have been any better.
This was my first visit and I loved every thing about my experience but…..the bar is directly adjacent to the inside dining area. At the bar they had live music, loud amplified music with singing. This did nothing but echo throughout. It actually became quite annoying as the play list continued.
Absent the impromptu concert, which wasn’t happening during appetizers, this was a fabulous dining experience and I would have given 5 stars. I’d definitely return but probably just not when the band is playing.
The food was on the level of a fine dining establishment, but the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming! Our waitress was an absolutely charming Michigander.
We ordered the roasted garlic and Brie, and the calamari for starters and they were ON POINT! And the bread with pesto dip…simply stellar.
The salads were incredibly fresh, cold, and perfect.
The drunken grouper was a hit with my husband and son. I had the Grouper Francaise. Normally, I get photos of all of the food…but I legitimately forgot, and decided the best review would be the EMPTY PLATES!! I wish I could steal the chefs.
If you visit anywhere close to Sanibel…make time for this establishment.
Simply put:
Hands down….the best Filet Mignon on Sanibel* paired with the tastiest Garlic Mashed Potatoes I have ever had anywhere.
*Top 3 Filets I have ever had.
The portions were great, the prices were great, and the wait staff were far better than average. Torrey, was our server. He was extraordinarily personable and made great conversation.
We completely recommend George and Wendy’s on Sanibel. ABSOLUTELY amazing!!!!!!
Thanks for a GREAT experience!
Here’s what I would get again, the bread with oil and shredded parm. It is a great starter, coming hot and fresh out of the oven. To this day I’m still searching for an olive oil as decadent as we had that night…
(Let it be known is a dinner only option, don’t make out mistake of trying to get some at lunch hour, it is not baked then.)
The Shrimp and Scallop Scampi, this knocked my socks off, everyone was fighting for the last bite and sopping up each little morsel left on their plates. The white wine sauce is just perfect with the sun dried tomatoes. I’m telling you do not pass this one up.
The best crème brûlée is simple, and they did not mess this one up, fresh fruit, whipped cream, vanilla custard, and caramelized sugar. It was a exactly what we needed to end our meal.
Now what I would pass on was our Dinner Entrées, they were not bad but not as amazing as our appetizers and dessert, we would probably try other choices next time.
Overall we can’t wait to come back and indulge, and if you want a quiet dining experience sit outside in their lovely outdoor patio area. Or enjoy a bustling setting with live music by the bar.
Thanks George & Wendy!
