There isnt anything I can add about this iconic hotdog joint that hasnt already been said but I just wanted to memorialize it since Ive been visiting this place for over 2 decades, and its consistency is uncanny.

My favorite is the double dog (no relish) and these are some of the best fries. The fries was fresh out the frier and nearly burned my mouth (in a good way). I like that they cut these russet potatoes in the cook line!!

A definite must stop whenever near this area!

Great place to have a simple hot dog. Service was good and pretty fast to get my food out. The atmosphere is just like a mom and pop restaurant. The hot dog was great it just had a little too much mustard for my liking. Other than that I loved the fresh fries and hotdog. I would definitely recommend and go back to eat when I’m I the area again. Gene and Jude’s definitely lives up to its reputation.

First bite was moist but smoky. The Original Chicago dog is smoke free flavor and beef only with a poppy seed bun and sweet relish.
The experience was missed on me.
Although in sight were large boxes of potatoes and another post show video of live potatoes cutting today we were served low quality fries .Pictures shown on other reviews are not representative of today’s personal experience.
Fries lacked genuine flavor and texture.
Is time for a makeover here: the building, the lack of outdoor tables, the trash can without cover, the dirty counters .. for such a prestigious place it was a general let down. The price is good at $ 10 for double hot dog on one bun and a large drink.
I would suggest a collaboration with local Chicago bakery Turano for an elevated bun experience and beef tallow for the fries.
Although the service was quick, the young employees – some- were chewing food – which is a turn off.
No hot soapy water in sight or alcohol to clean counters.
Nice music.

If you come to Chicagoland. You better stop here and get it all both orange and grape drinks. They place is a staple. My grand parents lived 7 mins away and we visited every weekend and ether we would get Gen and Jude’s or Jake’s pizza. But the fires from this place you must come.

The dogs snap here.
I don’t like my food to touch and thought I could manage. I could not.
Everything was freshly made.
The purple juice is horrid. Just get a pop.

I’ll definitely swing by each airport run and politely ask for my fries on the side.

That tamale shouldn’t be sold anywhere.
P.S. they take cards

A Chicago staple!! If you want a true Chicago style hot dog no fancy seats no fancy waitress this is the place you have to go. Be prepared to stand in line for they are packed almost every minute they are open but WELL WORTH the wait in line. DO NOT let the others fool you and NEVER EVER put ketchup on a Chicago Style Hot Dog. drive 45 minutes to get this double hot dog, and fries included you can’t go wrong. Buns always fresh and steamed Hot dogs have an awesome snap and flavor for being boiled. They just serve hot dogs, fries and tamales so don’t think of going there if you want a burger. 100% recommend!

Delicious snappy hot dog and fresh, hand-cut fries. Excellent tamale, corn and meat more flavorful than most we’ve had! Fast and efficient service, good value. Standing counter inside to eat at, not tables or chairs.

Great hot dog! However, they don’t have any ketchup, which is odd. It’s the most used condiment in the world. I didn’t want a dry dog, so I got mustard which I don’t like, but it was still good. The fries surprisingly tasted good with mustard too. I bought two double dogs and ate the second one later with ketchup and I liked it even more. The prices are very affordable and the food is filling.

Classic hot dog stand. A good hot dog but not a Chicago dog style (nor the ability to order as a Chicago dog). Wanted a poppy seed bun too. But great experience never the less and great value for dog and fries. Inside counter dining. Pretty busy at 9pm on a Saturday.

Solid hot dog, cooked great, and the fresh cut fries were ridiculously good. Don’t mess around, just tuck right in at the standing room counter or eat it in your car while the fries are still piping hot!
